Excellent place to stay with family. Near to Mosque. Shopping malls are nearby, only walk able distances. Front office very friendly and helpful. Room service also good. Restaurants in ground floor or else vegetarian restaurants are near by

I was multiple times here in. Its a smart hotel in the heart of muscat. Its surrounded by streets and a mosque near by. So i used it only for sleep and refreshing. So you have sound from outside. The staff is very friendly and great. The rooms are okay, some need smart renovations and repairs. The internet is gotten fast, last time they upgraded there internet provider for faster speed. All was clean.

i can't say its a budget hotel as with the same price you can get better places in the city, the room i got was extremly noisy with sound outside of people talking or dragging stuff. cleanlisness is not bad and room service is nice.
this hotel has a good location in the middle of the city

we went for a weekend Trip. Hotel is next to Rotana in Al Khuwair...!!
Nice and clean room with clean bathroom .
Hotel is located in a place which is near to lot of eating joints.
Also hotel staff was helpful and had an Inhouse restaurant.
Good for an overnight business trip.

Al Khuwair is becoming very much like Al Barsha in Dubai. It is not the most beautiful area but it is a very convenient district with a mix of budget hotels and family apartments as well as more expensive hotels like City Seasons. What is nice is that it is pretty much in the center of Muscat near to both Sultan Qaboos Highway and the Muscat Expressway (the two main roads in Muscat which will take you anywhere). There are also numerous Arabian, Iranian and Indian restaurants nearby as well as TGI Fridays, Burger King, Hardies and other restaurants within walking distance.
Not only that, the Muscat Grand Mall and Avenues Mall are pretty close to the mall. About 5 minutes drive. You could probably walk if it wasn't to hot but it is too hot now. It should only cost OMR1 to get a taxi to the mall but taxis may charge OMR2.
In the malls you have a lot of stores like Polo, H & M, Payless, Mango, Boots, Hallmark, Borders, Aldo, American Eagle, Cotton On, Forever 21, LC Waikiki and R & B (2 brands I never heard of but worth a visit because they are reasonably priced), and restaurants to choose from like Nandos, Ruby Tuesday, Chillis, The Thai Kitchen, ShangThai, Caribou, Starbucks, New York Fries, Chick Fil A, Chao Kajun Eatery etc. Avenues is the better mall and has a huge restuarant area on the third floor. Also there is a Carrefour and Lulu Hypermarket.
The actual hotel was perfect for our needs. It worked out to about OMR26 per night (with the 17% tax) which is definetly on the cheap side for Muscat as hotels in Muscat are more expensive than hotels in places like Dubai. The staff were friendly, and they allowed us to pay in cash even though we had a Booking.com booking. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We got a room in the corner and weren't kept awake by any noise. A friend stayed right next to the elevator before and said it was very noisy but we asked for a quiet room and had no problem. There was a mini fridge which we put our own snacks in. The bathroom has a shower that feels like a phone booth because of the way it is enclosed, unfortunately our room did not have a bath. The TV has very basic channels, but there are some English ones. The hotel only gave us one towel each and we never asked for more but you probably could. They also only provided you with one 500ml bottle of water even if there were two. However, we bought a big bottle downstairs for 400 baisa. There is a grocery shop in the City Seasons Hotel called Khimjis which you can get water and snacks from. And there are even a few markets closer by. We stayed there for 3 nights on a long weekend and were surprised because there was always a parking spot even though there weren't that many parking spots.
For the ladies: The hotel is on a corner and there is an inexpensive ladies beauty salon called the Pink Pearl down the road on the road where the reception door entrance is. It is on the second floor of an old run down building and not very beautiful inside but the staff are knowledgeable and it is owned by two flight attendants so a lot of flight attendants go there to get beauty treatments such as waxing etc done as it is cheap. I would say the treatments cost nearly a third of the price of places like Tips and Toes. You can get a full Pedicure for OMR6 and they have amazing packages for OMR30 which include a number of different treatments to choose from. Best to book though as they looked busy when I went there.
