Since my last review in 2014 I have stayed in the Samudratheeram Beach Resort four times and now it is the fifth. In Kovalam it is my absolute first choice.
It is because all the comments I made last time hold true and the Hotel's facilities have improved.
Staff...fine and friendly
Food and Restaurant. ..better than fine in my view, and referring to views then the outlook from the restaurant is wonderful.
Facilities ...pool and lift and Split A/C and, well the list of amenities carries on.
If you're looking for two nights or twenty two nights in Kovalam then get a reservation at Samudratheeram Beach Resort as early as you can.

It was our last destination on trip to Kerala and was disaster to our wonderful trip so far.It has just location near to beach... thats it. The restaurant staff was nice but it didnât add up to over all experience.The bed linens, towels... were dirty and old. One second Day of our stay i asked front desk to replace the bed linens and give fresh towels... but alas .. when I reached hotel at 9.30 pm the linens were same and the height was ... towels was kept for drying in balcony.. they didnât replaced the towels!!!!! You all can give a thought on this .. Just one word.. Avoid.

After reading all the reviews I was scared that did I made any mistake choosing this hotel and yes I did.
The rooms were ok. Ants in the room.
No hot water. I stayed 2 nights there and every time I was complaining about hot water be it 3pm in noon or 6am in morning no hot water was there to take bath. On the last day when I raised my voice in front of whole bunch of people. The person there said now you will get hot water and guess what at 4 am In morning I got hot water. Seriously this is how you treat your guest?
Aren't you not affected by the these bad reviews you getting?
Having good location or having swimming pool doesn't make it 3 star hotel.
The starts I have given to this place is because of the location which is 2-3min. Away from beach. Also the breakfast place is good. Its on rooftop so you can enjoy sea view.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever encountered in my life. During the year end holiday I along with my family was traveling in Kerala. The tour was booked through SOTC. After visiting several places, at the end we reached Kovalam and entered this hotel, as we were booked here. From the beginning the attitude of the staff was unacceptable. Room was of very basic type. Bed linens were not clean and smelly. Washroom was like that of any railway station dormitory and extremely stinking. The dining area was most horrible - though was on rooftop and offers sea view but it was so shabby, food was so bad, waiters were so clumsy, dishes, bowls were so untidy we skipped having meals there, though breakfast and dinner were included in our package. Our joyous mood of holidaying at a great location was completely turned off. The biggest shock was when after visiting the Kanyakumari we entered the hotel in the evening of the last day of our stay there, we found there was no towel in the washroom, and our used towels were kept for drying in the balcony. We were feeling totally helpless, what to do. It was a low end budget hotel with horrible attitude of the staff and poor facilities. I would suggest, nobody should book in this hotel ever.

After having read the poor reviews on tripadvisor I was very sceptical about this hotel but it absolutely surpassed my expectations. We stayed in the sea view rooms on the top floor and the views from there were glorious. The rooms were large, airy and bright. We also had a fridge in the room.
The staff were very helpful and whatever we asked for was supplied promptly. The food at the restaurant was also good but on one day it wasnât that tasty- I can only assume that the regular chef had a day off! On one occasion the restaurant was really busy and the manager himself delivered our food for us. I needed a computer and printer to check in for my flight and the lady at reception, Chinchu, obliged me with this request too.
The swimming pool was beautiful and spotlessly clean. We swam everyday.
I wish the hotel would extend the lift service all the way to the top floor and to the roof-top restaurant- it would help the elderly.
The road leading to the hotel is very steep and needs to be repaired but I understand that this problem is not up to the hotel to solve.
All in all a wonderful stay with some magnificent views.
