I stayed recently at the Shantai Hotel for 16 nights, and have nothing but praise for the place. Helpful staff, always welcoming and obliging.
The Indian cuisine in the Cinnamon Restaurant was so good, we did not look for anywhere else to eat during our entire stay.
Strangely...there is also an Italian restaurant as part of the hotel!

We had gone here for dinner. Decent food. Nice ambience (unless ruined by a large group of very loud people, like it was in my case). The jaljeera had too much of nimbu juice. When pointed out the server asked us if it could be replaced, we just left it at that. The stuffed mushroom starter was tasty and so was the veg maratha. Kabuli kheema naan was good too.

We were 5 persons travelling in a group to attend a luncheon birthday party held at the same hotel and had booked 3 standard rooms. We arrived from Mumbai around noon and were efficiently checked-in and escorted to our rooms on the 4th floor. The room I stayed in was the smallest of the three but very comfortable, neat and tidy. We quickly changed and left for the banquet hall on the 5th floor. The Hall was sufficiently big enough to hold the 150 or so guests with a small stage area at the far end. There were vegetarian and non-vegetarian snacks served incessantly. They were tasty, freshly-made and sumptuous. The lunch was a buffet, laid out in the vast passageway outside the banquet hall. It was quite delicious and one felt satiated after the exercise.
In the evening, we stepped out for a while and then went for dinner.
At night, the room was very cosy, with the air conditioning and the comfortable double-bed and we had a good night's sleep.
Come morning, we went to the Cinnamon restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast, which was included gratis in the room fare. We were served idli-sambhar-chutney, mixed vegetables with parathas, eggs to order, toast, butter preserves, tea/coffee and lemon juice.
After breakfast, we went to our respective rooms, packed up and since we were here for an overnight stay, came down to the lobby, checked out, and waited for our inter-city transport to arrive.

A Good Economy Business hotel for short stay. Near to station and Bus Stop. Neat rooms and helpful front desk team. Stayed many times felt good. Easy way for travel to Mumbai by train or by Bus. Friendly staff makes you feel comfortable

Pros: Good location, room service, courteous staff, electronic safe is available
Cons: no separate smoking and non smoking room, so i ended up in a smoking room and had to ask for another non smoking room, The bathroom door gets jammed and very hard to open. no phone in the bathroom.Single travellers can get trapped and this could be their last stay in a hotel. Careful.
Ask specifically for double bed if you need one.
