What People are saying

The perfect place for a 1001 Nights stay

Staing at the Maharaja Palace with Maharaja level of service is what really Udaipur deserves. Although it is quite expensive and I have been told the the standard rooms are not up to the point, we were graciously upgraded to a top class room with a balcony and a huge terrace overlooking the city and the Pichola Lake.
Besides, you will also be provided with a Security Pass that will allow you to move freely around the Palace (but not inside the Palace Museum). Then, at night, we were able to enjoy different areas af the Palace, gardens and courts, having them to ourselves with no other visitor around, just the colourful security guards.
In the morning, we enjoyed the best breakfast of our whole trip in India (even better than the Marriott one) with really crisp bacon, delicious tea and pastries, freshly made eggs, etc, all in the nicest surroundings in a very nice courtyard besides a lovely pool.

Property great - rooms not!

The location and property are incredible, no doubt. The location is perfect and the views from the bar are stunning.

However, was really disappointed with the rooms...they have not been updated at all and are old. Not worth the top dollar and 5* classification.

RIP OFF - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR SPOIL YOUR HOLIDAY

Do NOT book this Hotel, we stayed there 2 nights in the Standard rooms for 235 Euro per night without breakfast, this room was like a pigstall, never 5 Stars, max. 2 stars , People there are arrrogant and not friendly , by far worst Hotel during our 16 days travel in India, there are many nice heritage Hotels in India much better , can be old but why so Shabby ?? No good Feeling anythere on the ground of this Hotel !!!

Great place to stay with family

We stayed for 3 nights in December with our 2 kids. It was a great experience starting from the reservations team who helped us figure out how to accommodate 3 adults and 2 kids and provide very prompt responses for booking via email. What I really loved was the trust that they didnt even ask for a credit card to confirm the reservation and also had booked a airport pickup via their travel desk. Even when I called on the day of, the people who answered the phone knew exactly when I was arriving including my flight number.
Once at the hotel, the service was perfect including providing basic essentials that we had forgotten like batteries for camera at no cost and providing all options (AA, AAA).
As we had 2 young kids, this place was perfect to just walk to the palace, basic shopping for tourists and come back to your room and relax.
As the package I had included breakfast and dinner, it was great to just walk to the restaurant and eat the amazing food. The only issue with the food was that the breakfast was served open air and at times it was very chilly and even the staff wasnt very thrilled about being outside in low temperatures. The dinner staff was very courteous and also catered to any special needs for kids.
The only thing that can improve is some cleanliness, one day I noticed ants in our room but as soon as I called the housekeeping, they came in 10 min and took care of it - very prompt service.
I highly recommend the hotel.
They also have a great travel desk - Mr. Nadeem who took care of all our local travel.

Palace Experience

Travel_Food_Photos on 02/01/2018 01:45

We stayed at Shiv Niwas Palace for three nights and had a great experience
The rooms were nice with a private courtyard
It was close to the lake Pichola , the lake palace meuseum and fateh sagar palace
You can take a 5mts walk to see the lake palace in the middle of Lake Pichola and also the sunset
They had restaurant like Paanthya inside the palace area
Ideal for relaxing and enjoying the palace
The only two negatives- getting into the palace was a bit challenging since some of the access roads were closed- The management should clearly mention the access on the website that is open 24x7
The other one - the rooms were not cleaned properly since we saw lot of dust rolls on the second and third day
