Rooms with comfortable beds and pillow menu. Located only few minutes from the shopping area. Walking distance to the Castle and Matthias Church. Fantastic view if you have river-side room.
Breakfast is OK.

My wife and I stayed for one week, and had a great time. The facilities and room were very good. Staff were excellent throughout, and our room had a fantastic view over the river and the Chain bridge. We used the pool and sauna every day.

I have been traveling to Budapest for more than 10 years now and during this time have stayed all the high end hotels, however, I keep returning to the Sofitel.
I do this because I believe that the staff genuinely care.
The rooms are a little tired and yes in need of renovation but the location is ideal.
I do have use of the lounge on the 8th floor (worth paying the extra to use) and the staff there are super friendly and always very helpful.
The restaurant is excellent as are the wines and cocktails in the bar.
This is a very well managed hotel with staff who look to make the guests feel welcome, valued and make the stay as good as it can be.
Staying at the Sofitel is a real pleasure. I look forward to the next stay

We just came back from the Sofitel Hotel in Budapestafreter staying in the hotel 5 days. No need to expand in words! The title says it all. Great stay, pampering, full of warmth. Excellent service and attitude, hearts, personalities in every "corner" of the hotel.
This is the place (so that anyone who reads this will know) to thank and praise: (1) the club staff on the 8th floor of the hotel (all without exception); (2)Two people, exceptional people who did everything that could serve us, and everything from their heart, with a smile, warmth and endless patience and these two men are the staff of the dining room: Vivian and Flavius. The hotel location is amongst the best in Budapest. Very central and great views. But the rooms definitely need an update as they are quite old by now. Also the breakfast waiting time is not acceptable even though the breakfast is great.
