Let's start with the good points. The hotel is perfectly located on the edge of Lake Rotarua, within 5 minutes walking distance of the town center and 2 minutes of the sensational Polynesian Spa. I was a great base from which to explore all the good things the area has to offer. The staff were welcoming and freindly. The highlight was the Te Roopa Mauri Cultural experience which the hotel hosts every night. Which, at 60 NZDpp, was well worth the money considering it included an excellent buffet meal. The room itself was ok. Exceptionally clean and well presented but a little tired looking, in particular the bathroom which had everything you need but looked rather worn out. I'm not sure that it matched it's description as a Superior room. The downside, and it's a major one, is that this is probably the noisiest room I've ever stayed in. The room was poorly sound proofed and any noise from the corridors echoed through. It was also located on the ground floor and was immediately adjacent to, what we later found out to be, a group collection point. So if we managed to grab some sleep through the constant din of people coming and going through the night we were certainly woken up in the early hours, sometimes as early as 5.30am, by tour parties banging doors up and down the corridors and casually chatting away outside our window, with total disregard for any other guests, while waiting for their coach to arrive. The one time I contacted reception, literally a 30 second walk away, about the problem they took so long to send someone that I ended up having to confront the group myself. Which was not ideal. I can't think of a worse place to locate a group meeting and pick up point. Regrettably there was no acknowledgement from any of the management about the inconvenience and there were certainly no signs posted. A poor response I felt and all in all we left there feeling mainly disappointed.

At hotel Sudima Lake page at Amoma we had ordered a room with aircondition. This is essential in summertime. We got one without aircondition. When we complained the hotel staff said all rooms with aircondition was occupaied and it was our own problem as they havenât got information from Amoma. I cannât see that it is the guests problem, that the hotel reservation page at Amoma is wrong.
After a very long discussion they agreed to change our room next day and give a breakfast as compensation.
The new room (with aircondition) was even smaller than the first and at the ground flor even though we have asked for a higher flor.
In general the hotel is worn and needs a renovation.
The pool is like a big bathtube.
The internet is cumbersome, e.g. we couldnât use it all the time as some other guests had used our limit.
This is the hotel on our 4 weeks in New Zealand, where we got the least value for money.

Stayed for night. Short walk to town. Staff very friendly. Room clean and a bonus being able to open window. Room quite congested with 2 beds in it but we will stay there again should we return to rotorua

Our room had 2double beds, fridge and, oh joy, a decent size bath, which made up for the lack of view. Comfortable, clean and central for the geyser park. Close to the lake and town centre. Tea and coffee making. Breakfast was varied but not very hot. Lovely staff. Reasonable dinner well priced.

Lovely hotel, staff, room. Free use of wifi, gym,spa, pool. Great location on lake. Lots of geothermal activity. Close to shops, grocery store, lakeside. Great decor. The breakfast had good choices and was tasty, seemed kind of Nordic style, with Maori statues and pictures
