We stayed one night at the hotel -like most travellers to this part of Oman.
The hotel is acceptable - the rooms clean and comfortable, albeit unremarkable. Those rooms facing the road are a little noisy. The staff were friendly and capable. The dining room adequate, offering simple and limited choices. The food was unremarkable.
This is a hotel to transit through and in that respect it meets that objective. Neither remarkable or unremarkable.

We slept and ate only one night in the Sur Plaza hotel. The basic equipment was all there and working. The room was not spacious but sanitary was clean and up to date.
We got the idea that the visitors were all foreigners. The barbecue part of the buffet was not very tasteful. Breakfast was OK

This a good 3 star hotel (4 star headline rating for meeting expectations for what it is.) Our room was comfortably furnished without being luxurious, and like all the other guest accommodation it is approached off an architecturally pleasing atrium. This helps to give the hotel a nice ambience. We decided to take supper out. The town centre, or at least the souk area, is about 4 kilometres distance, so we asked the hotel to get us a taxi. This was something they claimed, to be unable to do. Perhaps due to language difficulties, they offered us no advice on where to eat; or how (not trivial) to get a return taxi. A low point at the hotel, as they seemed somewhat indifferent. We were therefore directed to the nearby busy main road, and were able to flag a taxi easily for a cheap ride of about 1 Rial. (Perhaps the hotel could have done this for us.) Arriving at the souk there seemed to be no decent restaurant options. Using our minimal Arabic we asked a local if he knew of a good restaurant. Not here he said but there was a very good one too far to walk. Typical of the hospitality of the country this nice man insisted on driving us to the restaurant, and he had to be persuaded not to wait for us to take us back to the hotel. After a good meal a chap from the restaurant took us to a nearby road, and flagged down an occupied tax for us, Sharing the ride, and accompanied by the driver's tiny children, one of who sat on his knee to help him drive, we eventually returned to our hotel for 1/2 Rial (excluding tip.) The experience away from the hotel well worthwhile. Breakfast at the hotel was good. It seems to be the most comfortable place to stay on the usual round tour, and I would therefore recommend it. Despite bering near busy road, the hotel seemed surprisingly quiet, and we were not aware of traffic noise. From our taxi experience I would say the service could be more accommodating. It has good facilities, including an outdoor pool which we did not use. Sur is a worthwhile spot for one night only e.g. en route to Wadi Shab. There are some excellent views of the bay, and the dhow factory is a good visit.

Simple, small rooms- if possible, go for upgrade! Breakfast really simple and small choices. Hotel situated next to big road- so not directly in the center of Sur. Wifi slow, pool area ok for 1 day. We were there just before new years eve, so pool area was practically closed and under preparations for NYE party.

We have been several times in this hotel and we were again happy to have chosen it .
The rooms are big and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom was immaculetly clean and that is very important.
There was also a big group staying, but the staff had all the time for us and everything was managed in a very friendly and efficient way. Absolutely top!
The location is also nice. You can visit Wadi Ashab and it is 45 minutes to the Turtle reserve. Do not forget to go to the Dhow warf, just next to the bridge. Very interesting as well.
