Have not stayed at this hotel although every time we go to Benaulim we always visit here. We come to India for something different atmosphere and looks wise. The Taj is lovely but has no personality, it's like staying in any posh hotel in any big city. It is also quite expensive so in our opinion is not worth staying, go elsewhere and get the true feel of India.
Annual winter retreat

Another visit to our favourite hotel. It never lets us down. Attentive staff, comfortable, clean rooms and constant sunshine. The hotel is still undergoing refurbishment and we stayed in one of the old villas which are looking tired now. Weâre told the remaining blocks will be completed by next year when we return. The change of venue for breakfast was most welcome and there is much more space. The only disappointment for my husband was that they have discontinued the archery due to the stupidity of some guests. The grounds, as usual, were beautifully kept. If I could make one suggestion it would be that the addition of some benches throughout the ground could make walking around a little easier ?
Fabulous oasis!

After a very hectic and amazing ten day tour of the Golden Triangle and Amritsar, we booked a five night stay here to rest and unwind. It was an excellent decision and the hotel was perfect! A lovely warm welcome with a couple of musicians set the tone as we were escorted through the enormous lobby area, very tastefully decorated, to our delightful Garden Villa room. Cool and spacious with a large bathroom and balcony, we loved the âolderâ Portuguese/colonial style. Incidentally, we also had a look at the recently renovated Premium and Deluxe rooms, which are superb but we felt lacked the Goa feel, of our room. Housekeeping is excellent as are the bar and restaurants. The standard of food and service, including the large and varied breakfast buffets, is superb. The lush landscaped grounds are enormous (50+ acres) and beautifully maintained. There is a fun 9 hole golf course, with pro and caddie if desired, as well as putting greens. Other recreation includes free bicycles for two hours a day, tennis, football and cricket. However, as most guests are fairly elderly, these activities were not busy when we stayed. One of the most appreciated things was the complete lack of music by the pool. It was delightful to rest there in peaceful quiet! Mark (Concierge Desk) and Nanna Singh (Restaurant and Pool Bar) were two of the staff we had excellent experiences with, but the whole team were exceptionally helpful, cheerful and efficient. An unusual and much appreciated delight, was that our fresh fruit bowl was changed and replenished daily throughout our stay. This is a truly five star hotel experience and we expect to return.
Enjoyable, but room for improvement

We had a very pleasant week here, in a plunge pool garden room. The garden was spacious, a very nice patio area with table and chairs, and a lawn ares with sun beds and umbrella. The grounds are quiet and lovely, lots of room. Plenty of sun beds on the beach and around the pool, lots of shade.
The hotel itself is a very large building, seems very empty.
We ate at three of the restaurants, all of them were good, and we felt the food was reasonably priced. We did feel that the all-day restaurant lacked character.
All the staff that we encountered were helpful and attentive, we could not fault them.
The reason we give four stars and not five is the condition of the room. The Taj is undergoing a refurbishment, but our room had not been renovated. From that point of view we feel we had an inferior product, in that maintenance of the room was not kept up to - for example, tiles were missing from the pool and had not been replaced. We think that standards should be kept up even if refurbishment is taking place at a later date. On checking the hotel rooms after our arrival, we noticed that some rooms were premium pool suites and cost more; presumably these had already been updated, but we didn't have this option when we booked eight months ago.
A very nice hotel, but not up to the standard of the Leela - no shabbiness there!
Luxury at its best

If you have a fat wallet this is a place for you. They have great hospitality, food and rooms. Do try the suites, they are just magnificent.
They do have private beach. They have an very well maintained pool.
You would be lucky, since most of the celebrities tend to stay at this place. You can get a picture clicked with one :D
