Good food but pub could do with a bit of a polish

This pub, set in a lovely village, provided us with well cooked, tasty Sunday roast and friendly, if rather over eager service. The menu appeared to be good value and served the usual pub fare. However, on this cold February day, we found the interior atmosphere a bit âbleakâ and very dated. The radiator we sat by was splashed with food/drink, furnishings looked old and shabby and the place lacked that warm atmosphere so many similar types of pubs have. The most unpleasant thing was the food splattered paper menus we were handed at the start of the meal. You would hope most proprietors of such places would think to print fresh menus each day...or come up with a way of covering them. So the rating for food is good, but feel some improvement could be made to the seating/eating areas
Excellent food and beer

The Bell is our local and we regularly use it for a drink or to eat. It is proper village pub, either for a drink or food. Last week we had a family gathering of 10 and the food, cooked by Lorna, was absolutely superb. It was all hot and on time and the beer was good too. Customer service is great and the staff are very friendly.
We will be visiting again next week for the Wednesday Steak Night.
Brilliant!

I have used this pub for the last 7 month as my local. Lorna's hospitality is great and her food is to die for! I have eaten in other local pub/restaurants and The Bell surpasses the rest by far. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Great Cheverell is a small village just outside Devizes, between Erlestoke and West Lavington. I recommend the Sunday roast, the best in the area!
Excellent customer service

The Bell Inn is pretty, quaint and traditional. It is well placed for access to Witney. The food is very good but what makes it stand out is the customer service. The staff and local customers could not be more friendly or helpful. The landlord went out of his way to make our stay run smoothly. We will definitely go there again.
Smashing Steak & Ale Pie

Yet again having a lovely pie with chips and vegetables.
Great food again with a smashing open fire to sit next to. Plenty of parking and a village walk on hand. Plenty of good company and visitors alike.
