What People are saying

Cheap and clean!

Emily A on 06/02/2018 16:12

So I wasn't expecting too much when we booked up here for a long weekend. I was expecting basic and somewhere to rest our heads but I was pleasantly surprised! The room was VERY clean and cosy, the only thing I would say is that they need updating (i.e the TV was from the early 2000s haha). The showers were always free and also exceptionally clean. Although the breakfast was basic, it was nice and a good start to the morning. The communal kitchen was also clean but I will say the fridge needed cleaning out as it has a smell. You have to label anything you put in the fridge so I would also suggest taking notes and paper with you or the hotel leaving some sticky notes and pens by the fridge! The bus is quite expensive so unless money isn't an issue or you like walking, think how far the town is before booking this place. The closest supermarket is a 20 minute walk and the town is a 45 minute walk as its icy. This wasn't a problem for us as we enjoy walking anyway and got to see a bit more of "normal" Iceland living on the walk! All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and I have no doubt in saying when we return in 2019 we will be booking up again!

Brilliant

Great stay at the Capital Inn, rooms basic but very clean. Staff lovely & the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. Only problem we had was being picked up last & dropped off last for the tours so a lot of waiting for the coach/on it.

Not bad

Located about 7 minutes from the center by car. WiFi doesn’t work very well in the basement and rooms. Large living room and kitchen areas. Beds are a bit flat. You have small lockers on the corridors. Anyway it was cheap to stay there.

We would recommend staying here!

I've seen alot of the below reviews slating this Hotel, I'm not sure what they were expecting for the price?! For the price and location it's worth every penny - rooms are clean, good wifi and breakfast is nice. Yes, the rooms could be updated but how much time do you spend in there when you're in a beautiful place like Reykjavik anyway?! We are more than happy with this place, location wise it is around 20-30 minute walk into the town of Reykjavik. The shopping centre is closer and has nice restaurants in there too. We booked all our tours before coming to Iceland so I don't see why people have whinged that's it's too far, you get picked up and dropped off where ever you need to. There's a free shuttle bus aswell which will take you straight to town.

The staff were lovely including the Chef, he can come across a little rude initially however, it's just him and his sense of humour - it's very dry!

Ultimately for the price of the Capital Inn - it's a great option for Reykjavik don't let the nasty reviews put you off I'm glad we didn't.

It’s comfy and what you expect from what you pay

Emma H on 20/01/2018 17:39

We really enjoyed our stay at the Capital Inn. The staff were helpful and polite. The room was comfy, yes it’s not the Ritz, but that’s not what we paid for! We weren’t really in our room long enough for it to be an issue. Breakfast was nice and the fact that it was a little out of the city didn’t bother us at all. Literally across the road from the hotel was a beautiful walk along the waters edge. The bus is a 10 min walk away if you want to go into the city and if you have booked trips via Grayline Buses whilst you are there, they pick you up and drop you off door to door to and from the hotel.
Overall we would recommend the Capital Inn to anyone visiting Iceland on a budget.
