I stayed here for two nights over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Admittedly all I did was sleep and shower there (as was at family for Christmas day) and it was clean, quirky, friendly and comfortable. The bed was one of those that you lie down and then are instantly asleep. Claire was friendly when I arrived, which was quite a feat seeing how busy the bar was. Good atmosphere and very conveniently located.

we did not over night here but had lunch and supper here - great food and huge amounts of it. nice staff and very fast service. would recommend it to anyone be it for a afternoon coffee or a meal and would defo stay there on another visit

I originally booked the family (The Crown Room I think) room for myself as it was the cheapest room on Expedia with a private bathroom. At the time of booking my wife and children weren't able to travel with me. My wife later got cover for work so decided she would bring the kids down too. I called the hotel on the Monday before our stay on the Friday to explain that they would be joining us and ask if they had a cot for our 1yr old. The lady on the phone said she would check with the landlord and call me back. Shortly after she did call back and explained that they don't have a cot but they do have space for a travel cot if we can bring our own. Which we did.
I arrived at the hotel first and checked-in while waiting for the rest of my family to arrive. I even chatted to the landlord while at the bar about waiting for my wife and kids to arrive. They arrived and I took them up to our room. While opening the door the landlord appeared behind us and said "Where do you think you're going to put all them kids?" I thought he was joking. He wasn't. He said there was nothing on the file about kids and that the second bed wasn't made up and that they were too busy to make it now and that I would've been charged extra if he'd known. I argued that I had made the hotel aware on Monday and nobody mentioned anything then. He reluctantly agreed to let us stay and shortly after a very polite lady arrived with bedding and an apology for the confusion.
The room itself was nice actually. We liked the winding stairs to get up to it, even carrying a baby and a cot! We liked the quirky layout and the great view over Emsworth High Street. My wife and I even liked listening to the sounds of the pub below as people poured out into the street. It was slightly let down by a very, very poor shower, a run down feel, and somebody's old boxer shorts in the bottom of the wardrobe!
I would visit here again. The beer is good in the pub. The atmospshere is great, especially live music nights, and you can't get a better location in Emsworth. Maybe next time I'll just make sure I speak to the landlord personally to ensure he knows which of my family members are coming too!

We go to the Crown occassionally for Date Night. I have to say the food whilst pricey for what it is, is incredibly tasty. I had the best omelette I have ever been cooked here the tastes of the filling melted in the mouth, chunky chips yum yum. They make their own burgers with the filling inside making them succulent and divine.
The only thing I would like is for the seats to be more comfortable.
