A wonderful though short stay

We were on a family holiday driving from Jaipur to Agra and were fortunate to book a night at The Gateway Hotel in Agra. Our party of six were immediately greeted as soon as we stepped into the lobby, our bags were whisked up to our rooms, which they thoughtfully had arranged in a row on the topmost floor. No waiting at the reception desk, they came up to our rooms to check us in.
The rooms were impeccable, spacious and well appointed with view of the Taj right from our windows. Later that night we had dinner at Jhankar, their Indian restaurant. The service was wonderful, catering to our every need and even took some of us on a view of the tandoori in the kitchen.
We left the next day but not before a wonderful lunch packed for our onward journey with Agra petha as a bonus.
We really commend the service oriented staff in the restaurants as well as the front desk. We are so glad we picked this place and sad it was such a short stay.

We picked the Hotel as it had a view of the Taj Mahal but were dissappointed with the tired appearance of of our room. The Staff were lovely and we had a good evening meal, which was on the expensive side, in the restaurant

This is a great hotel where the staff are very helpful. And the guide we had to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort was first class. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 is that the rooms are a little ordinary for a Taj.
But still a great stay and the food was wonderful.
Pleasantly surprised

I didn't have high expectations for this hotel, but they surprised me with excellent service and good food. The workout facility, though small, had good equipment and my traveling companion had a rewarding experience in the spa. The pool and grounds were very inviting.
We received a very professional and warm welcome, and good service in the restaurant. I tried all the Indian offerings in the breakfast buffet and liked them all.
We had a Taj Mahal view room, but temper your expectations as the smog obscures the view, through no fault of the hotel. There was a very nice welcome tray of fruit and sweets. The room, though dated, was spacious and was appointed with all the necessities.
The one persistent problem is the televisions were difficult to turn on and operate, even for the staff, both in the gym and in the room. But who comes to Agra to watch TV?
