One of the best hotels in the heart of the city. Best suited for business as well as travellers. Nice ambience and a very fine Swimming Pool. You get a variety of cream cakes and the varieties of cuisine are extremely awesome. Visit Calicut, Remember Gateway!

This place is the best place you can ask for in Calicut. It is little expensive being five star.
Food facilities and other amenities are really good.
Pick up service is there from wherever you come into city

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this hotel and on checking in we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite. The reception staff were very courteous and helpful and we were given a very fast check in.
The suite was exquisite with all facilities and very well maintained and furnished. The housekeeping service was excellent. Most importantly, the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the sleep quality was very good. The only note of dissent was the enormous time to get hot water in the shower probably due to the long pipeline it had to traverse from source.
The breakfast was superb with a lot of choice and with local specialities - try the appam with vegetable stew.
Overall, a fantastic experience.

We stayed at the Gateway Hotel on our way from north Kerala to south Kerala so it was only for one night and we didn't have any expectations as we were only passing through. Howeverthe hotel is really nice and everyone on the staff that we meet from the reception, to the pool, the entrance guard and the staff at breakfast were fantastic. We travelled with kids and the staff went out of their way to make the kids feel good. Playing with them, getting ballons, finding toys for the pool or just smiling and being friendly.
The rooms are nice, but having traveled around Kerala, somewhat smaller than your used to (although they are standard sized). Everything very clean and the breakfast was really nice.
Only a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in Kozhikode.

The location is good. Maintenance is very poor. The rooms upkeep is bad, The rooms are in size and amenities, but very poor in maintenance, the tiles in the bathroom are cracked, the sink is old and dirty. There is too much noise made by house keeping at night. The house keeping was doing the room at around 1 am, too much noise and one cannot sleep. The food quality is good, but very poor menu in buffet dinner or even the ala carte. The apam was good, but no stew to go with. The bar menu did not have most of the items, and the explanation given was we are out of stock. Not at all justifying the Taj brand overall.
