Gateway the true taste of Bengal

We' ve been coming to this hotel since 2012 and still feel like coming back every year. I do check other hotels, but in the end decide to come to the Gateway. Last year, there was no availability and we were truly disappointed. This year we got in touch with Mr Subrata Chakraborti, Senior Manager, well in advance to ensure that we definitely get 2 rooms for a week and then a double room for us for another week. Mr Chakraborti made the arrangements, confirmed by email and whatsApp seamlessly. We are ever so grateful to him. My mum came and stayed with us for a week and enjoyed every minute of her stay. Everyone of the hotel staff was brilliant and courteous to my mum, a 92 year old lady and attended to her need. From the front office staff to housekeeping, room service, laundry guys, restaurant staff were so good, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of the Taj group and the concierge to GM , Mr Saurav Ghosal are truly brilliant and thoroughly professional people and deserves special adulation. We feel privileged to be able to interact with you and will come back again to this home away home. I wish everyone all the very best for 2018 and beyond.
Excellent

It was an amazing experience in the Gateway Kolkata. I had 3 day stay in Room No 122, which has a beautiful road side view. Amazing decor and giving a breif layout of Kolkata landscape.
Also I like to mention the serice from Alam Gir was exceptional. He always had his foot forward to service at any time in need.

My recent stay in Taj Gateway, Kolkata (04 to 07 January 2018) has been a stunningly spectacular experience. Incredibly overwhelming. Tellingly, exceeded my expectations. Service delivery has been superb, of the first order.

-My Taj experience ended at the Kolkata Airport. Two gentlemen impressed me most by their generosity, incessant care, and graciousness are Sanjeeb Chakravarti, (Airport Manager) and Rup Kishore Sen (Assistant Airport Manager). Both have helped me many a times since 2009.
-Buzz Restaurant service staff showed marked improvement this time. They radiate enthusiasm. Very high decibel cheerfulness and supreme guest service with extra personalised attention.
I am deeply indebted to Arnab Banerjee,GSA (knows my food preference by heart) Rajib Debnath, F&B Associate (pleasant and friendly) F&B Supervisor Sabyasachi Paul (relentlessly consistent) Soumajit Chakraborty, F&B Associate (man of poised intelligence) Alamgir Seikh, F &B Associate (effortless guest connect). Hostess Priyanka is caring and welcoming.
Front Office staff was very effective and efficacious. Guest Service Supervisor Shara Jackline Dâcosta impressed me most. My special appreciation to Bishakha Singh (prompt) Ekabali Sengupta (70mm smile) Soumitra Banerjee (generous and efficient) Purnima Barua (friendly, extremely helpful)- all four are Guest Service Associates). Ankita has a golden voice; she is always consistent and thoughtful.
Debanjan, Asif and Manish are really the load bearing pillars of Front Office with extreme attention to the requests of the guests.
The Chef Brigade deserves a round of applause. Executive Chef Deep Mitra Thakur readied homemade Gooseberry Pickle for me before proceeding on leave. I was deeply moved by this gesture. In his absence, Sous Chef Sayantan Chakraborty took charge. My full marks to him. The Pumpkin Soup made by Khokan Ghosh was distinctively delicious. So too was the sambar made by Deepak Das and Ippli Duryodhan Rao. Bakery Chef Sujato Sarkarâs contribution is vividly resplendent in Deli. He is a gifted culinary artist. Courteous too. My special thanks to Raghunath Ghosh, Itti Poddar, and Subhankar Sardar- every day, they served home style Bengali dishes to me.
My blessings to the In Room Dining team. My morning South Indian Coffee will be served in seven to ten minutes. Rahul Mallick is very quick footed, while Subham Vishwas is a caring professional. Arindam Ghosh took care of me very well on the penultimate day as well as on the last day when I had fallen sick. He is very empathic. He has the ability to listen to the âunsaidâ needs of the guests. I am a beneficiary of this trait of Arindam.
The attentiveness of the Room Attendant, Daniel Mark Corraya, is incredibly remarkable. He is a great credit to the Housekeeping team. Rana seems to have found his true calling in the Housekeeping Department. Both are very guest centric. Pradip, Laundry Valet is very courteous.
My blessings to the Taj Gateway team. I am humbled. Very much. Shall come back to stay again.
