We recently stayed at this place for one night at this hotel. We found out that this property is old, rooms were small and small bathroom. Staff was always in welcoming mode, but we ask for some thing, they would not be able to help for various reasons. Buffet breakfast was just typical Indian buffet breakfast. You have to take a stair to go to second floor. We did not find this hotel very welcoming to our liking.

One of the best properties in Gir. Very courteous staff, make you feel at home. Very close to the animal hospital so can hear animals at night time. The rooms on the upper level have great views. Food was good as was the spread. Has a river on the back side but part of the forest, so be careful when taking walks along the bank. Rooms are very spacious. More much to do in terms of activity but stay can be very relaxing. Highly recommended. The hotel cannot help in booking the safari so ensure that it is done before you get to Gir specially in season. They provide packed breakfast in case you need to leave early & is quite filling.

The Gateway is a scenic, quiet, lovely spot with balconies that overlook a pretty view; pleasant, clean, well appointed rooms; and excellent restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Breakfast and dinner had Rajisthani musicians on the veranda which added to the local feel. Really wonderful freshly made chappatis were a treat and Zahid was particularly pleasant and helpful at our meals. Our two safaris to see the endangered Gir Lions (only 530 +/- left), resulted in not seeing them, although our driver and guide were obviously knowledgable about the forest and flora and fauna and we saw many other species.

We stayed here with three generations of the family during our visit from the United Kingdom. The hotel is very well located within the walking distance of the Gir National Park. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view over the forest. The buffet food was very good, too. One thing that really stood out about this hotel is its staff: they were all very kind and extremely accommodating to various requests we have made. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The location cannot be beaten if you want a good hotel close to the Sasan Gir National Park.
The rooms are a good size - unfortunately ours overlooked the coach park. Most overlooked a river (our river view was blocked by a couple of large trees).
Given the quality of the hotel, they were a little tight on supplies of coffee but were very generous with bottled water.
The shower room/ toilet was okay but did not have any hand towels - we were provided with flannels and bath towels but nothing of a size in between.
The food selection was okay but not brilliant but the staff were all very helpful.
Whilst the hotel itself does not sell alcohol, there is a liquor store on site where you can buy beer, wine and spirits to be drunk in the comfort of your room. To buy these you do have to get an alcohol licence, which the liquor store can provide - they will need to see your passport and have confirmation from the hotel that you are a guest there. This was all sorted relatively easily.
There is a lack of things to do between safaris here, other than a very nice swimming pool. Spa facilities were offered. The village is only ten minutes walk away and there is a crocodile exhibit nearby but realistically we were using this as a base to go on safari to see the Asiatic lions - and on both safaris we saw some.
