What I liked:
Service is excellent
Food was very good - neer dosa melts in the mouth!
Location is good - close to city center and Mkt
What I didnât like:
Rooms were small considering the amount you pay
For a family on a holiday - itâs not a resort
Itâs a business hotel with good service - keep that in mind!
Bathrooms too are relatively small too with no place to dry beach clothes!
No Balcony in the rooms either..

I mean it's great if they are trying to hold on to history; but it isn't working. The property is old and not in a charming way. Everything was just plain mediocre at best. Rooms, Food, staff and Property in general. Unfortunately though, given Mangalore's lack of good properties, it is still your best option.

Itâs a Taj Hotel property, in the second tier category. The hotel is about 30 years old, and is in the process of upgradation and renovation.
The staff, including the Managers went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
The food had great variety and taste.
For a short stay of 2/3/4 nights, it is an ideal stay.

A peak holiday season in Mangalore, had very restricted choice of hotels. The Gateway Old Port was what I looked at, and was glad I did. A bit out of the congested city was the perfect place to relax after hectic day trips to Udipi and other places around Mangalore. An inviting pool, good food, nice rooms and courteous staff is what makes a hectic holiday a relaxing experience.

Itâs good place to stay with Family. Management is owned by Taj groups. Staff and Service are good. Breakfast needs to improve little. Rooms need to be updated . There are two types of room one facing sea and one on town. You should prefer sea side. Bathrooms too small.
