We stayed here for 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and very comfortable, if lacking a bit in character. It would have been nice to have a bath as well as a shower.
The food is good, not fine dining, but perfectly acceptable.
For breakfast there were a few really nice touches, like homemade yogurt, but the fresh fruit was a bit tired looking and not much of it. The cooked breakfast was very good and the marmalade was delicious. The coffee was nice, but not very hot.
We really enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Saturday morning, rang to confirm open for breakfast, answer machine so checked on website. Opens from 9am, great, menu looked good as well. Got out there, all locked up!
Takes seconds to update a website, change answer machine message or put a note on the door.

On a spur of the moment we booked lunch on Sunday in the Green Dragon. We were expected and welcomed on arrival and shown to our table, which unfortunately was beside the door into the kitchen so we had the clacking of the door closer every time one of the attentive waitresses delivered food or removed dishes. Due to inertia we did not move to a different table, which we easily could have done.The meal itself was well worth coming for however. Indecision about which Sunday roast to order was solved by ordering the mixed selection of all three tasty and tender roasts - problem solved! The sticky toffee pudding was superb, as was the panacotta. Coeliac gluten free requirement was understood and willingly catered for.

I met friends for lunch who were staying at Littlecote hotel near Hungerford.
We chose the Tapas, selecting a total of 6 variants.
The presentation was good and the service fine.
There was a reasonable selection of beers & lagers.
Overall it was well worth the visit.

This was my second visit to The Green Dragon. I stayed at the same time last year and promised myself a return visit.
I was in the area on business and stayed for 4 nights. The food is excellent, I can recommend the whole plaice and the 'dragon burger'. There's a good selection of real ales in a very lively and friendly bar.
The breakfast menu reads like a book, I particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.
The shower head in my room - Sarum, was the size of a dinner plate, it was like showering under a waterfall; loved it. The room was squeaky clean every day, warm and comfortable.
I can highly recommend a visit.
