Had a lovely stay in the Gresham . Staff very friendly booking in efficient and Breakfast first class. Location is brilliant . The room was bright and clean and even though it was facings onto O Connell St we couldn't hear any street noise. Looking forward to staying there again .

Check in was quick and friendly,
Got a free upgrade, room was very comfortable.
Plenty of areas to sit down and relax.
Breakfast was good,it was included in the room rate, otherwise at 23 euro it is way too expensive.
Overall the hotel is comfortable and the staff very friendly and ideally located.
Awful room, awful service, awful hotel!

Stayed here for one night in January 2018 and hand on heart I will ever return.
Booked this as a Christmas present for my fiancé so I was looking forward to a great stay as I'd always head it was a good hotel, when making the reservation I requested a nice room as it was for a present. How disappointed I was....
We were checked in and the lady apologised that our room 218, was very small and as a gesture the hotel had given us a 15 euro credit for the overnight car park! I thought this was very generous and delighted (that feeling didn't last long!)
We went up and checked into our cupboard (otherwise known as our room). I was so embarrassed as I had paid a LOT of money and the room was tiny. It was spotlessly clean but when the door hits the bed before its fully opened its not a good sign.
Feeling totally deflated I decided to contact reception and ask was there any chance of being moved. The lady said that 'you were warned about the small room' however I gently reminded her I had paid a lot of money and felt the room was simply too small. She then said to leave it with her and she would see what she could do.
15 minutes went by and I had head nothing-I rang reception again and we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine (the hotel was fully booked). I declined the offer as neither of us drank wine. So I asked for a meal voucher for the restaurant instead-again I was told that she would need to ring me back.
A different girl called 'Rosie' then rang me to say that the manager had refused and that 'we didn't deserve a meal voucher'. Charming service Gresham! V impressed!
At this point I honestly just felt like going home-for the money I paid and the service I was getting was ridiculous. We were then offered another room (even though they had previously lied and said they were fully booked!)
We were then taken to another room (1443) It was much more modern but still very small-however you could open the door more so before it hit the bed in room 218 so I guess I have to be very happy about that.....not!
However the room was clean-credit where its due and the breakfast was very good.
Although the poor service and the arrogance of this Dublin hotel (who seem to think they can charge what they like for poor service, for me, is simply not good enough)
I will never return and left with a very sour taste in my mouth. Paying my hard earned money for that? No thanks!
Improvements to an already great hotel

Having stayed in the Gresham 3 times before I was looking forward to seeing the changes which the Riu hotel chain have brought.
I have to say that I was delighted with the results. We booked a basic room and were positioned at the front of the hotel in a bright and airy room. Plenty of space and a good specification of bathroom fittings
Everything was spotless.
At all times the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Security staff and housekeeping greeted us with a smile. The chandeliers had been added to with a modernistic display of coloured glass on the ceiling which certainly brightened up the reception area.
The breakfast was as good as the best hotels I have stayed in and better than most , especially since it was included in the price. Fruit, cheese, hot food, a selection of breads were all presented very tastefully.
Definitely a hotel to consider as a base to tour Dublin and as I am mature enough to have a free rail pass, I hope to return soon
Comfortable but a bit outdated

Rooms are really comfortable but have the feeling of being quite old. I stayed there on 2 occasions and once i had great room on top floor, once i had one at the very end of the corrindor on 4th floor which seemed to be out of use for several years - it smelled of stale air (hotel was extremely busy at the time)
Service is really good, staff helpful and really friendly, breakfast is great as well.
