While the building looks like an old colonial structure, in fact it was built in the 90's in this fashion to convey that impression, but -- that said -- I really like the architecture of the place. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful (always gets points in my book!), the rooms are fine, the wifi is quick-easy-free (yes!) and the bed is very comfortable. My only quibble is that the breakfasts are overpriced (we did not make a reservation that included breakfast) so we used their breakfast buffet only once (better idea -- go a bit out of town to Taruko, rated well by Trip Advisor and quite beautiful). In any case, I can certainly recommend this hotel to others thinking about a stay in Bukittinggi.

Stayed for one night.
Check in was fast, less than 5 minutes.
Room very spacious, bed was comfortable.
Everything worked well in the room.
The free wifi fast and stable.
Location was superb.
within walking distance to all the tourist attractions; Jam Gadang, the Pasar etc.
Lots of shops and eateries nearby the hotel.
I love the design and ambiance of this hotel.
Check out was also fast.
Recommended.

Hired a travel agent and he picked this hotel for 28 of us. It is a great place to stay. The buffet breakfast was so good. It is a walking distance to the popular mall but the mall was on fire earlier, so, we just walk around close by stall/hawkers.

We loved the Novotel Bukittingi. It's not a particularly old building and although it was designed by a Dutch man (or so the hotel staff said), there is nothing truly colonial about it. But the hotel's interesting design, quirky fountain that leads to the pool (and kept my kids endlessly entertained), and the sensational mountain views from the guest rooms all made this stay special for us. I would recommend staying there. Breakfast was not great by resort or international standards, but probably was among the best in town. The pool was refreshing, the gym was yawn-inducing, and the staff was attentive. There's a pool table just off the lobby (for rent) and we enjoyed a game there. Room service was not too expensive.

I stayed here on August, 2017. I've got room 223, which is really comfy. They serve me mini cake thats make me feel like VIP guest and when u get up in the morning, you'll see beautiful mountain right in front of you. The staffs are so welcome and friendly. For breakfast it just so so. but overall, It was great experienced. anyway, it located not far from Jam Gadang.
