As with many of the reviews this place is not 4 or 5 Star ... donât come here if thatâs what you are looking for!..... however there is a lot of beauty in this old girl!
The pool and beach area is stunning!.... day or night the views are breathtaking. The staff are polite and willing to help but you will need to turn a blind eye where maintenance is needed and this hotel needs a lot of that!
This hotel has seen better days but we will definitely return.
"The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" in Bali!

If you are someone who needs a hotel which is modern, shiny, renovated, all doors oiled and all upholstery new â in other words, positively wrung of all personality and charm â just stop reading. You wonât be happy here. Its beauty will escape you, and that would be a crime because this place is definitely special.
Built in the 1980âs, this enormous hotel used to be the hot spot in Candi Dasa, with a discotheque downstairs, endless suites and rooms, and a huge staff. Please donât be put off by the abandoned look of 2/3's of the exterior (these days, only about a third of the hotel is in use), because inside lies the relic of a grand and magical hotel.
After running in horror from the place we had booked months in advance, we took a taxi and went hunting on our own. Visiting homestay after hotel, there were either no vacancies or no A/C. Then we happened on the Rishi. We stood in the reception area and took in the view of the ocean (which, believe me, is exceptional), relishing the amazing cool breeze coming off the water and straight onto our tired and sweaty faces. The stately furniture with worn upholstery spoke of bygone days of glory. They welcomed us and gave us fruit juice is cold glasses ( I know this is standard, but somehow they did it with an extra flair). Then they took us upstairs, and we just fell in love. It was so retro cool â from the aqua colored fridge (that worked just great), the funky kitchen non-kitchen (no stove, but a sink), to the side table light controls by the bed. YES, it needs renovation, but it is still glorious! There is rust on the beautiful fringed lampshades from too many years of sea air, and some of the wood is worn or cracking. You donât dare open the ancient TV doors for fear of them falling off. There are stained tiles, and only one of the huge pools is filled â the other a giant empty cavity. BUT WHO CARES? It is CLEAN, it is AFFORDABLE, and it is MAGICAL. With A/C and free wifi (which usually worked best in the reception area), it was modern enough for us! The people who work there are completely attentive, helpful, and pleasant. Eating breakfast (great choices and everything yummy) in the large and beautiful dining room, I imagined I heard whispers from long ago, back when it was filled to overcrowding with happy guests; the clink of coffee cups on saucers, the scrape of forks on plates, the murmur of voices discussing the new dayâs activities. We got a corner suite on the second floor, and they brought in a bed for our son. They helped to hang our mosquito netting (which most people donât need, but we are deathly allergic to mosquitoes). And then they eagerly assisted us with everything and anything we needed. We walked the lovely beach when the tide was out. At night, we swam in their wonderful, large and clean pool, which is right up against the ocean. No bothersome bright lights in our eyes â just the cool water and the sound of the sea. During the day, we sat outside on our 2-sided balcony and watched the waves, or lounged down by the pool in the ample shade of their lovely garden and read books. We walked throughout the town and ate at warungs and restaurants, shopped, and enjoyed the affordable offerings of itâs many spas. We didnât need a car â we could easily walk everywhere, however there is ample parking in the large parking lot for many vehicles, which made taxi pick up and luggage handling extremely easy.
We met one lady who has been coming there for 30 years, and now that she is retired, stays for months at a time. We met another group that had been coming for 20 years; best friends for over 50 years, one of them comes 3 times a year, staying at least 10 days at a time.
We realized we had found a Bali version of âThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotelâ â minus the senior citizens. It is cash only, but there are plenty of ATMS in town. It is a true piece of Bali, and we hope that many more will visit and explore the charm of this enchanting place.
Need renovation ASAP

We spent here over a week in october 2016. Hotel looked very old so was the room and furniture. Bathroom was extremely unclean, was even afraid to take a shower without flip flops. However, the staff as in most indonesian places is really polite and helpful. We've been told hotel's owner do not invest to renovations so unfortunately they have to count with bad reviews regarding cleanliness. Apart of this, they dispose with nice swimming pool opened 24/7 and their own beach acces. We really appreciated the location by the ocean in a calm part on the north Bali. Also the main northern highlits were accessible on motorbike within half an hour.
Enjoyable stay

We had a nice stay here for 2 nights. As many of the other reviews state the hotel is old and a bit run down. However, our room was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well.
The pool area is the best aspect of this hotel, really amazing view of the sea and comfortable sun loungers. The pool was clean and a lovely temperature.
It has a good location with many bars and restaurants around. Breakfast was included and was very good. The staff here are extremely friendly.
Overall we had a nice stay here and would recommend it to anyone who isn't too fussy.
Nice staff, but a bit spooky

The staff was nice. It was fairly clean and has a nice pool looking out over the ocean, but the hotel is very dated. Breakfast was included and okay but very basic. Similarly priced to other accommodations in the area (of which there are lots), so probably not your best bet.
