Stayed in the sea view room at the Royal Albion again for a few days at Walton-on-the-Naze. Lovely spacious room overlooking the sea with ensuite bathroom.
Room as always was clean and tidy and breakfast stuff provided. You get a selection of cereals, yogurts and bread, milk, butter and jam is also provided as are tea and coffee and bottled water.
As we were travelling with our baby who is currently weaning, the staff kindly provided us with a microwave and stored my frozen meals for me.
Everyone at the Royal Albion are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Good central location, right near to Walton Pier. Good selection of restaurants within a few minutes walk and a co-op and Tesco local for any essentials.
Would recommend staying here.
My surprise

Loved my stay, a trip down memory lane from when I was a child. Loved the hotel, the view and loved Walton on the Naze. I would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone.
If you love the see, food and either your own entertainment or mix with others, this is for you.
Great sea view

I grew up in Walton and wanted somewhere central with my requirements of ensuite and wifi so the Royal Albion was ideal for visiting my family.
Helen greeted me and took me up to my room, No1 with the sea view - and what a view!
Room is basic but clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast goods were fine, I know the town well and there are plenty of places to eat if I wanted different.
The stairs up to the bathroom are quite steep but as the room is upstairs anyway a few more were not a problem!
I thought it might be noisy being in a room over a bar but as there is a floor inbetween, it was surprisingly quiet except for the noise of the sea, which I loved. A bit of occasional traffic noise and chatter from the outside area on carnival weekend was to be expected.
Trying to think of any downsides to my 4 night stay, I can only come up with the small towels, but there were plenty supplied so nothing to make a fuss about.
Overall a good stay. Visited my family in my old home town, had a few ciders in the bar and ended with the Carnival fireworks over the pier - perfect!
Thanks to Helen and all at the Royal Albion, I am sure I will be back.
Food and service at the Albion

Had friends visiting today so decided to try lunch here, lovely view from seating outside, ordered food and really feel that it was terrible, ordered cheese/ham toastie, it was like children had prepared it not cooked properly, no salad or anything with it and would never order food again from there the quality of the food reflected in the cheap prices, all food ordered at same time and yet there was a gap of around 10 minutes in between each sandwich bought out to table. Bar was empty and yet waited ages for someone to take our order, overall it was poor food and service here and won't be revisiting unfriendly service also.
went into the royal albion public house
