I have been staying in this hotel for almost a decade now. The location is good, being close to South Mumbai business areas. There is a park adjacent to the sea within 5 minutes of walk, which is great for a morning/evening walk. While the rooms are small, I typically stay for one or two nights only and it's manageable.
The food is quite good too.

The hotel is quite expensive but rooms are very comfortable, but you can't open the windows because all around is noisy and in the middle of traffic jam.
Wifi not efficiently working.
Staff is very helpful and efficient!
Breakfast buffet is wonderful with pancakes, omelette and crepes on minute.
The hotel also has a very good patisserie.

just stayed at shalimar for 2 nights, with a friend in double bedded accommodations. this is a very nice little boutique hotel with a modern flair. the location seems quite safe, we walked to, shopping, temples, restaurants to and from there at all times. the staff speaks English very well and is very service oriented. The breakfast in the morning lacks a good coffee, but has a nice little buffet offering with a mix of International and Indien dishes. Dosas and egg dishes are made to order. I would return to Shalimar anytime and will recommend to anyone asking for moderate priced accommodations in Mumbai anytime. WiFi is a bit spotty.

The suites are beautifully designed and very functional.
The staff is very cordial and unobtrusive. We also had a board meeting at the banquet hall which was handled to perfection.

Acceptable hotel for Mumbai. The location is good - pretty quiet if you avoid a room at the front of the building, which is on a fairly busy road. Malabar hill behind the hotel is an oasis of green, and we found December temperatures to be slightly cooler here than in the rest of the city.
Breakfast is fine, with a range of Indian and European items. Staff will also make dishes to order, which is a nice touch.
The cost of the airport pickup service at Rs2000 is too much. The registered taxi service at the airport is much better value at Rs700, and of course, the reception staff will also arrange a taxi from the street outside to take you back to the airport.
The carpet in our room was somewhat tired, and was not vacuumed for five days! Bed linen and towels were spotless. Wifi is fast and seems to work well in all areas.
All the hotel staff were unfailingly helpful and pleasant, although the restaurant manager seems to have real difficulty in keeping track of orders! The bakery on the ground floor, and the shisha bar on the roof are both great.
