visited with friends for the first time

We visited The Ship at Dymchurch on Thursday 4 January, we had friends with us and called in at lunch time. Our first impression was very positive, we were greeted by a member of staff who showed us to a table and offered to hang up our coats. Our friends commented on the pleasant surroundings, and we all felt comfortable and welcome.
We all ordered a different meal and the men in the party were very satisfied with their choices of Ham, egg and chips and the baked cod on crushed potaoes dish. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the other two meals. I ordered the roasted vegetable lasagne, which was very unpleasant as it was full of whole green and black olives and a small amount of carrot. I do not like olives and do not consider them to be roasted vegetables. I was expecting, peppers. corgettes, aubergines, something of that nature. My friend ordered maceroni cheese, which was what it said on the tin and nothing more, but a very small portion for £10, more like a starter as it came only with garlic bread, it was very disappointing. We would definitely return though, as the menu is quite extensive, as is the specials board. We will probably visit again one evening as I I feel there is more to this pub than we experienced.
Lovely

This was our first visit and we loved the new look. The meal was great we really enjoyed our braised beef, unfortunately my profiteroles needed a little more thawing and had to ask twice to pay but other than that we will definitely return for another meal.
Docked at the inn

Came here last Wednesday with local friends . He visited having gone to other places owned by same people.
Came in and seated quickly. Drinks choice a little limited as a place like this you would expect cocktails , wife got rose and another in the group tried some local ales I did try these as a taster but weren't to my taste . I ordered only starter duck salad very tasty well seasoned and something I don't see to often . For mains me and my wife had ribs with chunky chips.
I feel the ribs could do with being a little bigger as felt cost was not reflective of sixe and my wife asked for more sauce as although it was very nice was a bit thin on the ground this was got with haste so can't question service . We looked at the desert menu with nothing jumped out to any of us . So overall I feel this is a nice pub/restaurant but think the drinks menu and maybe desert choice could be taken up a notch . Might sail in when I'm next passing .
Slow. Bad service

No communication between staff. Wasn't even that busy. Food left all over tables and waited over 35mins for starter.Tried to bring out mains before clearing table. Staff training is needed on attention to detail. Food was alright but probably wouldn't return as place just looked dirty and staff didn't seem to notice.
Pre Christmas Party

Eleven of us for our annual pre Christmas get together enjoyed a excellent evening at the Ship Inn.
We were well looked after by the staff and the food was it's normal high standard.
We also had the benefit of entertainment which made the evening even more special.
We will certainly be going back.
