The Elgin Silver Oaks is like going back in time. What a fantastic heritage hotel. Wonderful big rooms, high ceilings, great views, very plush lounge, great old world bar and a grand old dining room with first class meals with great service. Also, great gardens with massive valley views. Can easily recommend this.

As part of a group tour we stayed here for two nights. The building has a lot of history and is furnished with some old colonial furniture with many pictures on the walls to remind of the past. The walk to main streets in Kalimpong is close and convenient. The highlight has been the fine dining, even though a buffet, where the staff are very helpful to ensure you have your needs met. The old engraved silver plated sets, include everything down to tea and coffee pots and salt and pepper.
The food quality has been very good.
The room is spacious and the bathroom has been through some renovation so is modern.
All in all a very enjoyable couple of days.

The hotel is a very fine example of what an old fashioned hill station must have been like. Our room was firstly huge! The views are outstanding and being able to open our windows at night was just plain nice (especially after being cooked in the heat of the lowlands). The staff is wonderful, they make the place special. The will make sure you are taken care of. It was very nice to sit out in the garden with some tea and enjoy the sun going down behind us and lighting up the mountains!

Beautiful, picturesque view and very good location. Right in the heart of the city on top of a hillock offering wonderful view. Beautiful garden located within the premises, which you can walk down from the hotel, through a meandering path. Excellent food and good hospitality of hotel staff.

We stayed here after 26 hours of traveling from U.K. We arrived exhausted and immediately found everybody friendly and keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay. A fresh pot of Darjeeling tea was most welcome. The rooms were spotlessly clean and fresh.
Unfortunately there were not many people staying but that did. It affect the service in fact it possibly made it better for us as staff were even more attentive! Once we told management we were vegetarians we got a superb meal to tailor our diet and it was just lovely.
If we ever come to Kalimpomg again we will certainly stay at silva oaks.
