Christmas at the Swan sparkled, dazzled and delighted not only because of the friendly staff in a wonderful hotel in the heart of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe but also because of the exceptionally fine food created and presented by the Head Chef, Justin Ketts.
On Christmas Eve, as the Choir sung in the Minstrelsâ Gallery and after ample Champagne and canopies, we were delightfully presented with a scrummy five-course meal with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts and enjoyed exquisite Smoked Salmon, tasty Halibut and a superb Pineapple Panna Cotta with textures of apple.
On Christmas Day⦠it was Champagne topped up again and again and again, lots of delicious canapés, a beautiful Duck-liver Parfait, hake with Comfit Fennel and Sea Vegetables, turkey and trimming for those who wanted it and a lovely alternative for those who preferred it⦠all finished off with a really, really scrummy Black Forest Gateaux.
On Christmas nightâ¦. A really well presented buffet! On Boxing Day⦠a brilliantly presented lunch.
The Swan created an exceptionally culinary treat⦠a feast for the eyes as well as a truly satisfying menu throughout the entire three days.
What could make it even better� Perhaps a glass of Champagne and canopies on Boxing day as well! Or would that be the cherry on top of the Christmas Cake?
What a pity that we weren't snowed in and had the excuse to stay longer!

We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas it was our 2nd Christmas at the Swan although we have stayed at different times of the year Christmas is truly magical
From the time we arrived we were made to feel really welcome the decorations are beautiful and all the staff couldn't do enough for you the food is outstanding everything is cooked and presented to perfection.Our room was really large with a settee and armchair to relax in

The hotel was beautiful and the staff extremely polite and helpful. Our room was comfortable but bed could do with a new mattress!!
We ate like kings and the food was delicious. We had an excellent Christmas, thank you.

Welcoming as ever (this was our third stay) with beautiful decorations and a lovely festive atmosphere. We stayed for two nights and left thoroughly refreshed and ready for Christmas. The staff were outstanding throughout. Thank you ð

Just returned from an excellent stay at Swan Hotel in Lavenham. Good service from staff who were friendly, courteous and helpful. Food first class. Was surprised but pleased to have breakfast served at our table - no self service here! Bedroom warm and bed very comfortable. We will be back!
