my 2.5 night stay

Visiting Tradfest in Temple Bar, the location of the hostel was excellent. My check in was efficient and welcoming despite there being an issue for my 3rd nights stay. This was easily resolved though. The dorm was spacious, though sometimes there was a wait for the bathroom, but that's to be expected with us girls. The common area had ample seating and facilities for cooking your own dinner. I would recommend this hostel and would have no problem staying here again.

Perfect experience at the Times Hostel.
Staff really look after their guests, making your stay and visit to Dublin really easy.
The rooms are comfy and clean, with ensuite toilet, and located right in the city centre.
Couldn't ask for anything else.
Thanks everyone!
Clean and good!

Rooms are comfortables and cleans but noisy at night. Beds are a little uncomfortable and the pillow is too thin.
Anyway itâs in the center of the city! That helps a lot when it is your first time here.
Avoid! Awful place

Our plan was to stay at The Times Hostel in Dublin for 5 nights from November 18-November 23. It's currently, November 22 and I'm writing this from a new hotel in Dublin having had a very unpleasant and frustrating experience at The Times. The location may be great but it is not worth saving the few extra dollars to stay in a place that is unprofessional and does not care about the guest experience.
I realize it's a hostel and we were not expecting frills but I was also not expecting many of the things we encountered. Let's start with dirty floors (tip - don't walk barefoot or in socks in your room, they will turn brown and be covered in dirt.) I'll also mention the bed that squeaked anytime you moved on it and we're not talking a minor creak, this is a squeak that is high pitched and jarring. There are also the pillows, do yourself a favor and steal your pillow from plane, it will be thicker, larger and provide more support than the tiny lifeless one left on the bed. Be warned that towels are old and small and there is no proper place to hang them up so they will be damp everytime even you use them. There are also no shelves in the room, only the bathroom (but keeping clothes there will give you damp close), so if you want to unpack at all be prepared to hang everything up. Don't bother paying extra for breakfast, it's toast and cereal, you can get a much better experience for under 10 Euros almost anywhere else in the city. Finally, you'll notice a bucket with ear plugs at the front desk for " noisy roommates." Take a pair, it's not just roommates, we had to listen to a loud, off key dance party from the room next door. The walls are so thin we could every lyric and every word of dialogue spoken.
The final straw and the reason I'm now writing for another hotel is because last night at 4:00am we realized our room was leaking. It was raining (not a surprise in Dublin) and we woke up to a splashing noise on our window sill. We realized that there was a crack above the window sill, rain was coming in, hitting the sill and creating a flood on the floor. My husband, ran down 5 flights of stairs (no lift)to the front desk to get towels. The night person gave us extra towels and did offer to move us to a room 1 floor down with bunk beds. Since it was 4:00am we declined but were told that the next day the other room with a double bed would be opening up and if maintainance couldn't fix the leak we could move to that room. We agreed that was a good plan and tried to return to sleep.
In the morning we packed up all of our belongings, just in case they determined we would need to move while we were gone. We confirmed with the girl at the front desk that maintainance would be looking at it and hopefully fixing the leak and that we could move to the other double room. We left assuming everything would be fine. We returned nearly 11 hours later, checked in at the desk to find, not only did this worker not know about the situation but that no note had been left. Needless to say, I did not have a good feeling walking up the stairs to our room. When we entered our room we immediately noticed that no one had been in there. The towels we used to soak up the leak were in the exact spots and even more wet.
My husband went back downstairs and returned with the reception worker who offered us a room with two bunk beds, saying the other room with the double bed, the one we had been promised, was now occupied. He also had no power to make the situation better and could only give us the email of the manager. At this point management has not responded to email attempts to rectify the situation.
Very Disappointing!
