A good four star hotel, excellently maintained with attentive staff in particular the concierge was extremely attentive on arrival making one believe that the right choice of hotel had been made. Unfortunately We were disappointed with the size of the âDelux Roomâ and the âsea viewâ was limited even though it was at the front of the hotel. Never mind if we return, which we may well do, weâll make sure we obtain a fully detailed explanation of the room before booking. Food was excellently cooked and presented and as seems to be the norm these day drinks were a tad expensive. The saving grace, Sidmouth is a pleasant place to visit.

We were a group of ten, some of whom were on their first visit to the Victoria.
Your first reaction to the Victoria is what a wonderful old building. The you are met by the doorman in all of his regalia. He makes you very welcome and points you to where you need to be for check in, then parks the car for you.
Once in the hotel lobby you are met by a truly wonderful array of Christmas decorations, tastefully, but beautifully distributed.
Being New Year Eve when we arrived, dinner was preceded by a champagne reception, with copious amounts of fizzy available before settling down to a fabulous meal.
As ever the food was excellent and the service surpassed all expectations.
The evening was great with the resident band playing initially in the dining room, then later in the ballroom area to see in 2018.
New Year Day just continued in the same mould, with archery outside, great food inside and an evening of gambling, with fun money, to round off the evening. Just to be perfect one of our group won a bottle of champagne for having a very successful winning streak on the roulette, having never played before!
The Victoria is like a visit into a wonderful past era. Food, staff, surroundings and the bedrooms are all top class. No wonder one of my friends who has travelled all over the world considers it the best hotel he has ever stayed in, and trust me he has been in some wonderful 5* plus hotels.
Our thanks to everyone at the Victoria for making 2017/2018 New Year the best one ever for our group. If the rest of the year is as good as the introduction of 2018, we are in for something very special this year.

room very comfortable very clean as always as we have been many times .It is lovely to be welcomed to a great hotel. Nice town that you can walk to and nice walk along the beach

Having known and visited the Victoria for a number of years we were definitely not disappointed.
Usual comfort and welcome with all the Christmas trimmings.Excellent food with a good choice of menus to suit everyone to include children

Been coming here for 18 years and have never been disappointed. Service, food, ambience, staff, without exception are excellent. Afternoon tea in the lounge is a delight- very good value too.
Look forward to the next visit. Sidmouth and The Victoria Hotel are one of my favourite places to relax.
