Cold in winter

We stayed at the Wellington for one night on business last night. We had a room in the annexe. On first impressions very impressive as we had booked a double.room and got a "family" room which had additional bunk beds ..very spacious. The Windows and door were not double glazed, but did have a curtain across the door but that did not really stop the draught. The hotel did provide an extra throw on the bed but it was still cold. Wouldn't recommend staying here in winter or at least not the annexe rooms. We stayed in room 2 and unless your are under 5 foot tall you will struggle to have a shower as the ceiling slopes down at a really tight angle. My partner is 6 3 and with the added approx foot depth of the bath found it quite restricted. Was also shocked that there weren't any toiletries in the bathroom apart from handwash.
Breakfast...is up a tight stairway to the dining area, serve yourself to coffee which was sachets of nescafe and little cartons of milk with a Luke warm water urn, toast took an age on the toast cooker only doing one side at a time. No fruit, pastries or yoghurt(I've stayed at simple guest houses that offer this) when cooked breakfast came I had to.go back downstairs to bar area to find salt pepper and sauces
Would I stay here again? Only for the room in the summer without breakfast
Sunday lunch

Had Sunday lunch here last week ,and what a pleasant surprise it was to find out they were doing a bar menu, most pubs do roast on a Sunday so being able to get fish & chips, steak and ale pie, gammon and chips , sausage and mash, jacket tatties, sandwiches and burgers was " great ", booked in again this Sunday, can't wait, a great pint of ale too.
Lovely but better in summer

Lovely room but was so cold old building so no gas CH and the electric heaters just werenât up to the job. 2nd heater provided very quickly but never felt warm. Dinner was fine but again the bar was freezing. Breakfast good but not impressed with instant coffee sachets. And as the room was so cold the food and drinks went cold pdq. In the summer with better weather this place in the centre of the village would be fantastic..

What a lovely stay, the staff was so friendly and welcoming, the room was to the highest standard, very clean and inviting and the most comfortable clean bed. Can't wait to go back again, thankyou to lauren and Nicky for a perfect stay.

The Welly is a friendly, cosy traditional pub and hotel/B&B. Food is very good, my room was clean and comfortable, and Dee went out of her way to make me a large and satisfying vegan breakfast. Lovely!
