What People are saying

Service one step above the rest

lol_hargs on 10/02/2018 18:21

I can not adequately describe the incredible service at this hotel. The desk staff were super friendly and helpful! On multiple nights I received small gifts in my room which was such a pleasant surprise after a long day at work, and on one occasion there was even a hand written note. Breakfast is exceptional with cuisines from all over the world- it was have to take the pickiest eater on this planet not to find something they’d enjoy!! The gym is also exceptional, with there even being a ladies only area available. All equipment and machinery required by even the biggest fitness fanatic (me being one of them) is available.

Excellent Customer Service

Great location

Bandra Kurla Complex being Financial Capital of Mumbai, the Hotel Trident at Bandra Kurla Complex is ideally located. Service is great and very friendly. I was especially delighted to see the emphasis on hygiene this hotel carries with restaurants and kitchens being completely cleaned every day after every breakfast and buffet session. Kudos to the hotel team.

Exceptional

Exceptional service and staff behaviour. Be it the Nariman Point property or this one - Trident goes all out to live up to its reputation. Excellent rooms and room service. My return flight was in the evening yet I had no problem spending time in the restaurant, which serves some great food by the way. Truly a memorable experience!

Lovely Hotel with Great Staff

mrg0137 on 08/02/2018 20:21

I recently spent three nights at the Trident Bandra Kurla, while I was in Mumbai to attend a wedding. The bride and groom had arranged a block of rooms at the Trident, and I was very pleased with the quality of the hotel. I had never been to India previously, so I didn’t know what to expect. I was so happy to find the quality of the rooms and the service from staff to be at a very high level, and the staff’s attentiveness even when I wasn’t feeling well during my stay made things even better.

Arrival Experience:

A group of us arrived at the Trident in the middle of the night, at almost 5:00 am. Our flight had arrived at BOM at 1:00 am, but an extremely long e-visa line at immigration meant that we were delayed several hours in getting to the hotel. Needless to say, after almost 24 hours of travel from the United States, plus the long immigration line, we wanted nothing more than a shower and a nice bed, and the Trident was definitely able to provide what we needed.

The ride from the airport was quick – just under 20 minutes from BOM. I expect that the ride could be a bit longer at busier times of day, but the hotel’s location in the Bandra Kurla complex is quite convenient to the airport. The location seems like it may be a bit removed from some of the parts of the city that contain more historic areas, such as South Mumbai, but it was perfect for us because it was nearby to the groom’s home where we were attending several pre-wedding events, and we didn’t find it hard to get to other areas of the city when needed. Bandra Kurla is also quite nice in comparison to some other areas of the city that we drove through. My impression is that Bandra Kurla is a planned commercial area, which includes mostly corporate offices, some hotels, and government facilities, such as the US Consulate. There doesn’t seem to be all that much within walking distance of the Trident, but I really never wanted to leave the beautiful hotel while I was there! There is the Sofitel next door and a Starbucks just around the corner from the Sofitel for additional food and beverage options. Bandra Kurla is a bit of a quieter business-focused area, but I definitely didn’t find that to be a bad thing among the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, we first went through the security checks that are required (one for the vehicle itself, and one in which guests and their luggage have to go through a metal detector before entering the lobby). I was a little bit surprised by the high level of security, but it makes sense given the history of hotel terror attacks in Mumbai. Even with such a late arrival, a good number of staff members were waiting outside the hotel to greet us, and all of them were more than happy to gather our luggage and deliver it to our rooms.

I could not have been happier than when I walked into the Trident lobby and saw what a beautiful space it is. The lobby is large and open, with lots of marble, fresh flowers, seating areas, and even a grand piano that is staffed with a pianist in the evening. The lobby is indicative of the hotel’s feel as a whole – calm, clean, and modern, but not stark.

The front desk is tucked away to the left when you enter the lobby, and we were helped quickly. The staff member who checked me in wasn’t the most friendly, and seemed disinterested in providing much information about the hotel. However, that was an anomaly compared to virtually all of the other staff I encountered during our stay. She may have just been tired since it was so late at night, so it wasn’t a big deal. I was quickly on my way to my room on the 7th floor, and my luggage was sent up just a minute or two after I arrived in the room.

Room:

I had booked one of the entry-level Deluxe Rooms with a king bed, which I’ve seen others say are a bit small, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my room was rather spacious. The extra space seemed to come from the fact that my room was in one of the two ends of the hotel, which are rounded, making each of the rooms in these sections larger with a more interesting shape. I didn’t realize it at first, but I believe this was actually an upgrade to the second room category, a Premier Room. I was very happy with this room, including its size and large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in a lot of sunlight and featured a nice view of the BKC area. To compare, I also saw a Deluxe Room that friends were staying in, and it was still nice, with the same décor. However, it was a bit smaller and in a more standard rectangular shape in the center portion of the building. The upgrade from the Deluxe to Premier room types would be worth it to me in the future for the extra space.

The room itself was very nice and restful, finished in neutral tones with accents of red. I liked the combination of marble in the entrance area and bathroom, with wood floors in the rest of the room. These floor coverings made the room feel upscale. The king bed was large and comfortable (a little on the firm side, which I prefer). The blackout curtains were very effective and work off of an automated switch next to the bed, which was convenient.

The bathroom was a good size, and was the one other spot where I noticed a difference between the Deluxe Room and the Premier Room. In the smaller Deluxe Room, there was a tub/shower combo, but in my Premier Room, I had the same tub, but a totally separate walk-in shower, which was great. The only thing that was a little difficult in the bathroom was that it was hard to turn the water on in the shower without getting water into the rest of the bathroom. Since the shower door only swung into the shower, and not out of it, turning on the shower meant pushing water out of the shower when closing the door.

The only other thing to note about the bathroom is that it’s somewhat open to the rest of the room. The wall of the bathroom by the bed is all glass, looking right into the tub (and the rest of the bathroom beyond it). The glass wall in the bathroom was fine for me, since I was alone in the room, but I imagine multiple people in a room wouldn’t prefer such an open bathroom experience. The good news is that there are curtains by the tub that you can easily pull down to block the view into the bathroom.

I also liked that the room just generally felt well equipped, even when considering little things or small touches. There was already a plug adaptor waiting in the bedside table, as well as plenty of complimentary bottled water and two apples per day to eat. There was a fresh flower on the desk. The closet had a nice number of hangers, and the bathroom had several amenity kids in addition to the basic toiletries. All of the little things contributed to making the Trident feel more like home than the average hotel room.

Wifi worked well in my room, with a free connection provided for up to four devices. An upgraded speed was available for an extra charge, but I thought the standard wifi worked perfectly well for my purposes.

The only slight complaint I had was that it was a little bit loud in my room at times. The wood floors aren’t good at trapping at sound, so I very frequently heard my neighbors upstairs walking around. Noise from the hallway also seemed to get into the room quite easily, and it seemed like there must have been some sort of staff room or elevator nearby, because I heard staff talking in the hallway pretty often. I never heard any noise from outside the hotel, but noise from above and in the hallways was audible from time to time. It wasn’t a big deal, but it’s pretty much the only thing I could think of to improve my experience in my room.

I also thought the hallway on my floor (the 7th floor) always smelled odd during our stay. Others I was staying with commented on the same thing, and other floors didn’t seem to have the same issue. I can’t quite pinpoint what the smell was.

Dining:

The Trident offers three restaurants, and I was able to try one during my stay. I tried the main restaurant, O22, for breakfast in the morning, as well as for dinner one night. O22 is a really nice, bright space with comfortable seating.

Breakfast was included in our room rate, so we tried the buffet breakfast and enjoyed it. The buffet items are nicely presented and varied. I really loved that from your server, you could order eggs made-to-order in basically any style, including an omelet or eggs benedict. The fresh juices on the buffet were all so delicious, and we also enjoyed trying the chai tea from the chai station that was set up as soon as you enter the restaurant. If you’re looking for certain American breakfast meats, like bacon and sausage, I learned that these could also be ordered from your server. I didn’t see them on the main buffet, but my server asked if I wanted any of them with my omelet.

When I visited O22 for dinner, the service was excellent, and I really appreciated how varied the menu was. The dinner menu had a great mix of Indian and other cuisines, so I think just about everyone should be able to find something they like there. I was happy that when I wanted something really basic and familiar when I wasn’t feeling well, tomato soup and grilled chicken were on the menu, and were quite good. Dinner prices were a bit high, as I paid about $50 USD for a soup, entrée, and dessert, none of which were super fancy. However, it was well worth the cost for such a good meal with great service. I would definitely eat there again.

I didn’t have a chance to visit the other two restaurants, but I know that Botticino is an Italian restaurant, and that Maya is an Indian restaurant, both of which I definitely would have been happy to try if I had the chance.

The hotel also has a small coffee shop off of the lobby, called the Patisserie and Delicatessen. We visited it once and found that it had a nice mix of pretty pastries, savory items and sandwiches, along with coffee drinks. The coffee and quiche we tried were tasty and well priced, making it a nice place to visit for quick dining. The only odd thing about the Patisserie is that it is located outside of the lobby in front of the hotel. This required exiting the hotel before walking the final few steps to the Patisserie, and then going through a separate security checkpoint to enter. I spent a little bit of time looking for the entrance to the Patisserie in the lobby before realizing it actually had a separate exterior entrance.

Amenities:

The main hotel amenities at the Trident are the pool, spa, and gym, all of which are located together on the third floor. The outdoor pool is a very pretty infinity pool with lounge chairs that looked quite comfortable. I didn’t have a chance to lie by the pool, but others traveling with me reported that it was a lovely place to spend some time. I did visit the gym, which was also a nice space with large windows overlooking the pool. The gym was empty when we went in the afternoon. I heard that it was much busier in the early morning. The gym is equipped with several treadmills and ellipticals, as well as a variety of weight machines that allow for a good workout while away from home. There is also a dedicated staff member who comes into the gym frequently to check on things and make sure everything is stocked, which is a really nice service that most hotels don’t provide in their gym.

I didn’t get a chance to check out the spa, but I imagine it is pretty nice, in line with the rest of the hotel.

If you’re looking to do a tour or have anywhere to go in Mumbai, the hotel is happy to arrange a tour or arrange transportation. However, for basic transportation needs, I would also consider Uber, since it is extremely reasonable to get around the city that way, almost shockingly so in comparison to the United States.

Staff:

In addition to having a really nice physical space, the Trident BKC offers great staff service to its guests. I found the staff to be very helpful and proactive, beginning with the staff out front and at the security checkpoint being very friendly and even saluting guests each time we walked in. The restaurant staff was always on the ball, and housekeeping also seemed to be really great at what they do.

When I got sick for one day during my stay, it also helped showcase how great the hotel’s staff is. I was feeling very sick and not quite sure why, so I inquired to see if the hotel could send up an electrolyte drink (which was delivered within 5 minutes), and the hotel also set up a house call from a doctor. The doctor came up to my room in less than an hour from requesting the service, and he seemed to take everything quite seriously. He took my vitals, prescribed some medication, and was on his way very quickly. The whole process, including the visit and medication, was less than $50 USD, which seemed reasonable. I’m not sure that what the doctor prescribed ended up helping that much, but he was pleasant and professional, and having him stop by took away a lot of the anxiety of being sick while far away from home.

I also appreciated how caring the staff was when I wasn’t feeling well. They called to check on me, and they were very respectful of the fact that my ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign was up that day. They would call ahead anytime a staff member needed to come to the room, to make sure it would be ok to even knock on my door that day. The housekeeping department also seemed to be almost distressed about the fact that I was not able to have my room cleaned while I was in the room feeling unwell. They called multiple times to see when would be a good time to clean and to ask whether I needed anything in the meantime. I just sensed a very high level of caring from the staff of the Trident BKC while I was there, and polite, attentive service was always the norm.

The staff even impressed me at check out. We were in a group of guests who were all leaving the hotel at the same time to get on a bus to our next destination. The hotel staff wouldn’t even let us think of taking our own bags out to the bus, and the front desk staff did a great job of handling the temporarily high demand for their check out services. Staff members apologized profusely for the fact that there was a slight line to check out, which we didn’t even mind, and they proactively opened up computers at the concierge desk so that more guests could be checked out at once.

Overall:

Overall, I really liked the Trident BKC, and would stay there again without hesitation when in Mumbai. The property is well maintained, upscale, and comfortable. It’s not stuffy, but not too casual, and it is contemporary, but not too modern. I loved my room and would happily stay in a Premier Room again. The hotel provided a great respite after long days of flying to Mumbai, and if I had to get sick while in Mumbai, it was the best place to be at that time. It felt like my own urban apartment in Mumbai, with an amazing staff there to help out with anything I needed. Don’t hesitate to book the Trident BKC. You can rest assured knowing that you’re going somewhere very nice with a staff that will be happy to take care of you.
