Miserable, surly staff and a dreary post- atomic style exterior with dark wood panelling on the inside that makes you feel like you're in your own coffin. Pretty average rating from their Local Authority in regards their Hygiene rating too (3 out of 5). Do yourself a favour and drive past it...ewww
Disgusting! Never again

Booked the Longmead âhoneymoonâ suite for after a Christmas Party. The Christmas Party was great but the room was digusting. The furniture is all worn and stained (yuk!) but worst of all was the jacuzzi. It didnât look promising when I saw all the coating peeling off the jets but when I turned it on it was disgusting. All black bits of something were floating in the bath and some of the jets must have been completely blocked as they didnât even work. I complained at reception and young girl was very helpful and did show me another room but that didnât look great either. I had arrived in the afternoon to have a relaxing jacuzzi but couldnât do so, it was freezing in the room so asked the girl how to turn the heating on and she said it doesnât come on until 5pm. So thought a nice hot shower will warm me up. That failed as well as it was luke warm at best. I was going to give just one star which is for the food but as I was given a £20 discount due to the jacuzzi I gave 2 stars. I am in another hotel tonight which is half the price, even after the discount and is far superior.
Could be so much more

The hotel is pleasant, the dining area clean and well presented, the bar area is a little barren, needs a bit more character to present a country hotel feel. The bedrooms whilst initially looking good, need a little tlc and the bathrooms maybe a use a bit of mould removal spray in the showers. The food okay, veggies reminiscent of the 70's .. over cooked. Breakfast, well it's the first time in a long time I didn't finish it, how can you remove the taste from scrambled eggs and why deep fry the mushrooms.
Christmas 70/80's Night "Join a Party"

I attended the Ty Newydd on Friday December 1st for our works Christmas meal. The food was disappointing, an extremely thin piece of over cooked steak, 4 potatoes and a spoon of peas, plus apple and pear crumble for £22.00. Okay, we expect to pay over the odds for any Christmas party/meal, but the food and quantity were disappointing as was the "singer", ( I use the term loosely.)
My main gripe was the bar staff, particularly the older lady serving in the conservatory bar and their attitude towards guests. The bar was staffed by 3 people, the older lady and 2 younger girls, although later in the night, a blonde girl from reception was behind the bar, and she was polite and courteous as you would expect, during several visits to the bar, the 2 younger girls were constantly trying to work the till, together, and the older lady was snappy and huffing and puffing about things that people were asking for, and the eye rolling was particularly rude, I understand that they were busy, but they choose to work there, whether behind the bar or collecting glasses, and need to improve their customer service as I feel that the way guests were treated was poor for a venue such as this.
Excellent quality food and great staff

Visited today with a friend and family member for the festive lunch menu which was excellent. We are locals who have visited for food frequently over the years. The quality and quantity of the food, the better wine choice, the value for money, and Leahs excellent customer service made a very dreary rainy day a great afternoon out for us all. We have never had a bad meal here in all the years we have visited. Will definitely return.
