Excellent service just needs a little renovation

I went to New Delhi for business and chose to stay at this Vivanta because of its location. The location is perfectâwalkable to nearby Khan market (literally next to hotel grounds) area with great restaurants and shops. The service is 5 stars! I had a problem the first night I stayed since my room was too hot and the staff apologized and the supervisorâSatish Ranaâwas excellent! He moved me to a big suite that had no problems with itâs air conditioning and was just simply professional. The breakfast is excellent and the hotel is cuteâcolonial era decor. The only reason why I didnât give it 5 stars was it just needs to be renovated âremove carpets and put wood floors and also renovate the air conditioning system to avoid problems. Otherwise I would stay here again!
Nice hotel

I've stayed here a number of times on business and always enjoyed it. The hotel is very clean and modern, with good facilities. There's a pool for the weekend and lots a couple of bars. One thing that is a pain, it's literally in the middle of nowhere so forget going for a walk around at night, because you can't. Overall it's good for the business traveller but a bit far out for the tourist, go nearer the city centre as the traffic in Delhi is a nightmare.
I would stay here again

Let me preface this review by stating that I travel a lot for work and pleasure internationally. I stayed here for four days for my fourth visit to Delhi in three years. I will be upfront and say this was not my first or second choice initially- I picked it because I booked late and most other hotels were booked up.
There are three things that set this hotel apart in my view- 1) location 2) food and 3) service and one potential area of weakness 4) the dated condition of the rooms. The first three vastly outweighed the fourth for me so I recommend it.
Let me explain. Delhi is a large city with obnoxious traffic so you need to pick carefully before selecting a hotel. Here this hotel shines. It is centrally located to all the key tourist and business sites in the city and gives you a flavor for the local- unlike, for example the monstrosity known as Aerocity where there is nothing but proximity to the airport.
Now on to service and food. It is no secret that people who stay at rated Indian hotels are spoiled for service and breakfast spreads in this country are a point of pride. But here also Vivanta shines because the staff make you feel like they care about your well-being and treat you as a special person. This is possible because of the smaller size of the property but also because of key individuals. I would like to mention Prakash and Manas at the Yellow Brick Lane- I ate eight different meals there and each was delicious and authentic. I will eat there whenever I'm in Delhi.
As for what you think of the room, your mileage may vary. I thought it was fine. I'm sick of the generic business hotels from London to Beijing to Delhi I usually stay at that all look the same and I liked the Ambassador. The property is 70+ years old, so it is a little different, but there are balconies from which you can see city life: that's why you're here in India, right?
Food was ok.

Been there for a family dinner, indian prawn dish was not up to mark,at the same time yellow dal with tawa paratha was awesome. But the hospitality was beyond the expectations. Great service by server.
Excellent Staff

Stayed there for 2 weeks. Its asset is its staff, from laundry to cleaners and specially at The Brick- Prakash Sahoo, Prakash Bhagwat n chefs Ram Mehto. They made an effort to make us feel at home, catering for our every need. The decor of the room was tired. Location is central.
