As a family we recently dined at the washington central,on Christmas eve, evening.
We had drinks in the lounge first, before going into the dinning room for our meal.
As usual the standard of food and service was excellent, without fault.
Everyone of the staff, were friendly and gave such great service.
Made a family occasion dinning experience, very enjoyable.
We have come for many years now,and it is always the same excellent standard,so that says it all.
Thank you to all the staff at Christmas eve,for making our occasion special.
The cafe could do with a good clean

We visited here for a small bite to eat and a hot drink while shopping
It was busy with it being close to Christmas and obviously everyone was out Christmas shopping and the location is good and close to the shops.
I ordered a pot of tea and a cheese and onion toastie with chips
What came was in my opinion, disgusting (see photos)
The teapot spout was badly chipped and sharp and it was stained all on the outside as if it had only been swilled out and not properly washed after previous use(s)
You can see in my photos, the lid of the tea pot and how awfully stained it is.. you can also see the after photo were I gave it a good rub with a napkin. Again, obviously it hasnât been washed throughly because even with a napkin and some hot water I got it clean. The tea stain wasnât just from my tea, it was stains from many previous pots.
The toastie itself was nice, the side salad could do with some dressing. The chips were nice, thick and homemade
The floor was dirty and needed a sweep
No one checked on us mid way?
Wonât be returning sadly
Management need to pull their finger out and give waiting staff a boost and they need to find some pride in their work because it seemed to be lacking.

Good clean hotel with friendly staff. Food was good too. Would defo go back. Nothing was too much of a problem for them. Beds were really comfy too didn't want to get out in the morning. Also offer a lot of good services i.e. washing dry cleaning, beauty treatments if requested & lot more. Had a great wee weekend there
Secret floor with better rooms

I have been staying at the hotel for many years (over 10) and I have comment on the improvements which have been made. I may have previously commented on the room being a bit snug, with a TV on the wall in a small cupboard.
This week I was given a room on a floor, which I have never stayed on before, it's accessed on the same floor as the bar. When heading off toward the stars, instead of going up the stairs, bear right. It's not obvious but the corridor leads to what can only be described as suites.
No small rooms, with TVs in cupboards on the wall, these are large and spacious.
My room had a double bed, and a single, plus a desk, plus a table and two comfortable arm chairs. The tv was massive, at least 40 inch.
The room looked like it had been refurbished, the carpet was new. It was like staying at a completely different hotel.
I checked out the floor plan on the fire instructions, and even though I was impressed at the size of my room it appeared to be the smallest. Next door had a kitchen.
My only complaints would be the rooms had interconnecting door, and next door decided to put the tv or radio on at full blast at 5am. I would not say the wall were thin because I had not heard the usual movements and wall switch noises, I just think the person was inconsiderate.
My second complain was the heat, opening the windows help but it was noisy with road traffic and the wind. The radiators were off, but I think the room was above the steam room and sauna.
I am not sure what you do to book one of these, as the website I am forced to use via work only has one option.
For those who have not read my other posts, this hotel has some nice features, like a glass or port, robes in the room and irons, however it has some issues too. Car parking is a problem at the front of hotel, but there is ample parking close by. Which is not too expensive from £1 per night at the end of the street. The hotel had a deal with safepark at the rear, not sure if they still do. The pool is quite large, there is a hot tub, sauna and steam room, plus there is a gym too but the equipment is getting a bit tired.
Breakfast is good, with smoke salmon, kippers and haddock for those who like to eat healthy, with fresh fruit and even the small yogurt bio drinks. There are the unhealthy options too, like a fry up and cakes.
All the staff are very friendly, as is Keith the manager, who you might recognise from a few TV programs, usually on the subject of food, although he has defiantly lost a few pounds this year.
Romantic weekend

We spent a weeken break here. The staff were friendly and the rooms were rather small but ok.
The spa was really good and the facilities were very good. The pool was a very good size for a hotel pool. The steam room and sauna was well looked after and clean.
One down side is the parking, only a few spaces in front of the hotel.
The hotel is right in the centre of the town so it is ideally places for what is going on.
Totally recommend this hotel. Great staff great, great food, great stay
