Excellent Hotel and Great Hospitality

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights recently. We found this place as one of our best touring destination. The hotel is centrally located at ooty. We booked a luxury room which was excellent. Room service, cleanliness of the room,complementary breakfast, food which we had during dinner at cliff top the restaurant of this hotel was very good. Hospitality and behaviour of all the staff of hotel and restaurant is really adorable. I want to express my heartiest thanks specially to the General Manager Mr. Nazrul, Manager Mr. Anupam Saha and Mr. Sarvana for their great hospitality and making our stay memorable. Will surely visit this romantic place again and definitely stay at Hotel Welbeck Residency which is surely a gem of this beautifull hill station.

Good hotel but needs lot of improvement

Hotel is good, staff is very good but service is poor. It was package tour but breakfast was not good on the first day. After lodging complaint, second day breakfast was served good. Lunch and dinner were good. Tea in morning was served very late and it was not hot. It was very cold in Ooty and they should have provided hot water bottles and hot water bag. Good view of mountains from the hotel lobby and entrance.

Wonderful experience of the hospitality we received from all the hotel staffs. It is nice place to stay with family. However interiors of the room should be upgraded as per present norms. But once again I'm very much delighted with so friendly nature of hotel staffs. Food was more than excellent. Overview of hotel is very exciting.

The Best Hotel for the tourists, who are coming from Mysore or Gudalur side

The main or great challenge for any tourists, who are visiting Hill stations, such as Ooty, especially for those who have booked the Hotel rooms from remote places (thro’ online) & if they are very new to such places, is to locate the Hotel itself. But as this Hotel is situated on the main road itself, this Hotel can be located very easily & particularly, if the tourists are coming from Mysore or Gudalur side (& that too, if they are coming by bus), they can get down, in front of this Hotel itself.

The second interesting issue about this Hotel, which impressed me a lot was that, even though I had reserved the Hotel room thro’ MMT, the Hotel Receptionists, on their, own called me thrice, before the check in date & enquired about; how & at what time we are coming to their Hotel and in fact, once they did asked me, whether any transportation (pick up) has to be arranged from the Bus Stand.

Further with regard to the room & other connected amenities provide in the room, everything was fine & further, in such a cold climate, hot water was available from 6 to 10, both in the morning, as well as in the evening. We were provided Room No. 312 wherein, it had a very good view of the Town, as well as the surrounding mountains. Further, apart from the in-house Restaurant, there are plenty of Restaurants, located adjacent to this Hotel wherein, tourists can lavishly enjoy varieties of food.

However the drawbacks (cons) what I have noticed in this Hotel was mainly, there is no lift in this Hotel & therefore, for aged as well as for those who find problems in climbing the stairs may find it difficult to climb the stairs. Further even though the tariff is inclusive of buffet breakfast, the varieties were very limited & apart from the same, although we stayed in this Hotel for two days, on none of the occasion, we found breakfast items tasty.

Further, the second major drawback I noticed in this Hotel was about the room service. Even though there was separate designated Room Service wing available in this Hotel, provided with separate internal phone number, having called/dialled the number, at least not less than dozens of occasion, on none of the occasion, no one lifted the phone & hence every time, again & again, we were compelled to call the reception, to request for any sort of room services & of course, they took their own sweet time to provide the necessary services. To cite an example in this regard, once having placed the order, they took nearly 20 minutes, just to supply a single cup of coffee & this was the standards of Room service, we noticed during our stay.
However, in some of the reviews, what I have read about this Hotel it is written that, every time, room boys were expecting/waiting for tips, before leaving the room. But even though, we stayed in this Hotel for two days, we never came across any of such instances & in fact, while vacating the Hotel, the Hotel Manager himself personally helped us, in shifting our luggage to an auto. And apart from the above, in one of the review, it is written that some of the things (articles) of the guests, were stolen in this Hotel. However, in this regard, I need to tell that, the wrist watch which we had left in our room, while leaving the hotel hurriedly, was at the same place, even though we had ourselves deliberately left the room key, at the Hotel receptionist, for the purpose of room cleaning.

And other issue we experienced during our stay was that, for the whole two days, there was no TV & for the same, the reasons quoted by the receptionist was that, due to heavy rains occurred during the previous days, has resulted in falling of many tree branches on TV cable wires & hence, there was no TV signals. However, explanations furnished by the receptionist seems to be very silly, as in the same circumstance, there was no Power disruption, at any point of time & it was not an Hercules task, to restore the Cable connections.

And of course, the Hoteliers after going thro’ these types of reviews, eventually may respond by saying that “thanks for taking the time to tell them about our experience at their Hotel and there is great pleasure to receive such positive feedback & in turn express their unhappiness, for not meeting all our expectations & as they are driven by the principle of Atithi Devo Bhava (meaning Guest is God) every day, they work very hard to make sure that all guests receive their warm and personalized services & our kind commendations for their untiring efforts are thus much appreciated & they are working on it”, but ultimately what matter is that, it may be very easy to say sorry or seek apology for these short services, but my question to all such Hoteliers is that; for these types short services, at the end of the day (while vacating the room), do any Hotelier has allowed any sort discounts (rebate) to the tourists, on the room tariff, by quoting reasons that they couldn’t provide us satisfactory service? (which I either haven’t come across or at least heard about it). Therefore, my recommendations to these types of decent/standard Hotels are that, they should take much care on these minor issues, so that later they can avoid writing these types of consoling/soothing replies.

Finally, if the short comings, what I have detailed in this review are not at all an issue, to any tourist, I recommend this Hotel, as the best Hotel in Ooty, for their stay.

Awesome Place centrally located.Staff is very supportive.Breakfast spread is of selected items, but good and satisfactory.At reception Ms.Tanzin Tashi is very helpful.Travel desk charges are reasonable.Free drop to busstand was provided.Overall a nice Property.
