Magical views, a jewel in jodhpur.

An underrated hotel. Pictures are unfair to its appeal. This place is just 10 minutes by tucktuck from the clock tower and Mehrangarh fort. Close enough to be connected to the city but private enough to be able to enjoy the fantastic views of its private lake, palace and beautiful gardens.
If you like horseback riding this is the place to be. They had horses you can ride in the morning, what an amazing way to start the day.
The manager, Mr Jitender offered to take us around by the hotel car to know the premises, 20 acres full of life and greenery, peacocks and monkeys. What a treat!
Fantastic hotel

The Bal Samand was booked for us by our tour company for 2 nights as part of our tour of India. We were not disappointed.
The hotel is situated on a large acreage on the edge of Jodhpur, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms are mostly converted horse stables, well appointed and roomy. Each room has an outdoor sitting area overlooking the gardens, where peacocks roam about. Walking back to the Lake Palace we saw monkeys in the trees, landscaped gardens and a large swimming pool.
The main dining area is an outdoor BBQ kebab restaurant, with individual fire boxes adjacent to each table to take away the winter evening chill. Breakfast is served in an indoor restaurant.
We found the food delicious and well prepared, and not overpriced as might be expected at a hotel of this quality. Our waiter on both nights was Mahendar Singh. He remembered, on our second night, what we had eaten the previous evening and made suggestions for a new taste of Indian cuisine.
Jihendra, the asst. manager, chatted with us several times and seemed genuinely concerned that our stay was satisfactory and nothing was lacking.
We found all of the staff warm and friendly.
Highly recommended.
Nothing special.

It is a lovely quiet location and the rooms are pleasantly comfortable. However the hotel lacks any intimacy as the rooms are all in a line like stables with the restaurant at the end. The extensive grounds are open to the public and it just felt we were staying on the edge of an underused public park.
There is nothing wrong with this place but compared to most other hotels we stayed at in Rajasthan it lacked warmth and welcoming.
Amazing place to stay with excellent service

I spent a very special birthday of mine here and I will never forget it! I only spent one night here which definitely wasnât enough... This is somewhere I would love to return to in the future!
Rooms are stunning as well as being clean and comfortable. They are designed to be cool in summer and there are heaters offered for winter. They are beautiful, Rajasthani designed and they have all the comforts you may need. The bathrooms also have shower gel and shampoo. The hot water worked perfectly all day and the shower was great.
Breakfast is varied and absolutely delicious. You can choose from fresh fruit and cereals as well as a range of indian and South Indian specialities including a fresh dosa bar! Delicious! Only thing I would have to say is I asked for potato paratha but I got cauliflower paratha...
There are a couple of restaurants in the hotel. The one I went to for my birthday dinner was the outdoor restaurant. The ambience was just magical when dining in the dark of the night with a live musician, warming fires per each table and tasty food. I would recommend it. Because it was my special birthday the chef baked me a cake and came outside to see me. The head of catering also came to wish me.
The grounds of this hotel are just stunning. There are plenty of walking paths, jogging areas and the hotel offers horse riding too. There is a temple and lake too. As you walk around outside your garden room, you encounter monkeys and birds.
Peaceful location with excellent evening BBQ

We stayed in the Palace rather than the converted stables. Transport can be provided to and from the dining facilities if you don't want to walk. The rooms are spacious but the furnishings are rather tired and could do with an update. The shower in our room had steep steps into it rather challenging to get into. The water flow in the bathroom was spasmodic. The highlight of our stay was the outdoor evening BBQ. The quality of the food was good and the ambiance lovely with the log burners by the tables.
