Thank you to our amazing host Riyaaz who made our stay on this extraordinary vessel an experience to remember. It was like sleeping in a jewellery box! Impeccable food and service. Highly recommended.

We were visiting Kashmir and my guests from Australia wanted to experience stay on a houseboat. Not willing to take risks, I opted for branded Welcomheritage Gurkha Houseboats. Party of eight, we were allotted a houseboat (No. 2) with 4 bedrooms. Though I had stayed at one of the top houseboats earlier, the luxury and service on Gurkha far exceeded my expectations. The entire boat has expensive carpets and beautifully carved furniture. The bedrooms and bathrooms are generously sized to give a five-star feel. Two bedrooms have canopy beds making the entire setting very romantic.
The staff especially Mr Riaz, the caretaker, was always ready to take care of our demands. The food was par excellence and cooked to suit our taste buds. They left no scope for any complaints.
Had the chance to meet the owner, Mr Rafiq Wangnoo, who was exceptionally polite and invited us to visit his Kashmir Handicrafts emporium situated just behind the 6 Gurkha houseboats. The showroom is stocked with some of the finest shawls and carpets I have ever seen.
One of the most memorable stays and worth revisits.

Stay at Gurkha houseboats was a cosy home away far from the maddening crowds of the city nestled in the serene Negin lake. Hospitality was good, attendant very friendly and did not give any chance for complaints. Travel plans were organised over a phone call and during the check-out payment was facilitated through POS. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

Me my wife and another 8 members (4 families) visited srinagar for 4 nights and 5 days. We stayed 3 nights at houseboat. 3 rooms in one boat and two rooms in another boat.
Two rooms, which i stayed was very good. It was clean and beautiful.
Caring people with good food.
Only thing they need to consider, metres..they should be spring.

Kashmir valley ( A paradise on earth ) Trip is not completed in full without a stay in the House boat on the lake.
Yes very true ,we very Rightly picked " Welcome Heritage Gurka House boat " . I admire Mr.Rafiq Wangoo the owner for creating this floating Houseboat chain , the hospitality was splendid like home away from Home . The guruka House boat is parked in Nigen Lake which is quiet and with extraodinary spectacular views . The touch of welcome group was also there and visible with the cleaniness added with the traditional Kashmiri hospitality right from the quick response booking for over phone by Ms.Lalitha Thirugnanam of welcome group .
The house boat is very well decorated with the art and crafts of Kashmir , it was very clean at par with any star hotel . The beds are comfortable and covered with clean linen and the toilets were very well furnished with all toilet accesories inluding a bath Tub . The heating system with firewood was adding to the comfort level in the living and Bedroom in the cold winter . The food was delicious and made has per our wish and was served piping hot by the care taker .
We enjoyed the sikara rides on the lake and with the help of Mr Abdul Majid and Mr Imtiaz Ahamed we even took a 5.00 Am sikara ride in pitch darkness and enjoyed the floating vegetable market which was my interest and continued to float on the Nigin /Dal Lake for hours together.
The highlight of the stay was the visit to Mr. Rafiq 's residence cum Emporium on his personal invitation , we spent the evening understanding the various varities of showels , Kashmiri hand woven carpets and the best way to understand its purity . Mr Rafiq educated us with full transperency on the arts of Kashmir .
We enjoyed both inside decor and the outside view from the Houseboat and we highly recommend this house boat to stay and to enjoy the mesmerising view of the Nigin lake to the fullest .
Wishing Mr Rafiq and team all the best and for the best seasons ahead althrough .
