What People are saying

Elegant and Quiet

This place is about 12 kms. East of Palampur, near the temple town of Baijnath. An excellent place to relax and rehuvenate. McLeodganj, the Capital in exile of HH the Dalai Lama is at most a couple of hours uphill. There is well regarded Ayurvedic Spa on the outskirts of Palampur, which itself is a decent place with basic amenities. The Hotel is part of and an extension of a Maharaja’s Palace. The rooms and suites are well appointed and well kept. The staff are very hospitable and vey gracious. We interacted with Mr. Anand and Mr. Sharma who went out of gheir way to meet our requests. It seems to be well known by experienced travellers and celebrities and one can easily run into Hollywood personalities, eminent writers and others wishing for a quiet place to use as a base while travelling to McLeodganj and surrounds.

Yes and no hotel

This hotel was really run down and unlike my husband I really didn't like this place. We stayed in the new wing because we had been told the the old bit was very damp. Our room was huge but falling to bits. We had a look at the old wing and yes it was damp but nevertheless we would have preferred a room there.
The dining room was very depressing. However the food was good and the staff very friendly.
I was glad to be off in the morning.

Gorgeous historic hotel, brimming with charm though perhaps a few modern updates needed

I live in NYC, so for me, this hotel was the height of idyllic old-world charm as a retreat in the forests of northern India. I would agree with other reviewers that wifi and some basic updates to their amenities might be nice, but I really enjoyed the feeling of stepping back in time and escaping modern life. My room was beautiful, as were the grounds in their sort of mystical 1930's style; with stunning foliage and mossy-covered stone, fabulous decor throughout complimenting the gorgeous architecture. I kept thinking Wes Anderson would live here. And frankly, I had one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had in my life in their restaurant :) Everyone was incredibly warm and accommodating as well. I loved staying there so much!!

A big no or you will spoil your mood and money!!!

This is the worst visit to any of the so called "Heritage Property" taken care by a person sitting at the reception. He is the person who think that he knows everything and talks about the policy every now and then it is a nonsense for me.

Starting from my checkin to check out nothing is what we can consider as really living like staying at Heritage Property. I reached there at 8:30 AM and requested for the early checkin, to my surprise Madan sitting at the hotel started dialing several numbers to show that he is genuinely concerned that I should not have to pay early checkin charges. After sometimes he says that their hotel do not have early checkin policy and that I have to pay half day charges which after initial arguments I agreed and paid 4000 INR approx for the same. My point is if I have to inform my early checkin whom should I inform because ther number does not works and their corporate office has nothing to do with early checkin.

I entered the room and first thing I noticed was the used soiled bed sheet beautifully covered under the blanket but this time I didn not raised any objection as I understood this hotel is one more example of "CHALTA HAI ATTITUDE". The room interior is strictly average, they have funny looking truss beams running through the centre of your room. IT lacks velue for money and AC is some old machine running like a cool with stabilizer lying naked on the floor.

Now coming to the food which is below average quality and over expensive, staffs at ground level are polite but again lack of training is what they all require. I enquired about the breakfast and was told that have buffet at 600 INR plus taxes which I agreed on and went to the restaurant. The restaurant has really the royal look but once you see the menu of their buffet all your exactness will diminish, I have paid 800 INR to have 4 puris & sabji. They have only limited option and being a vegetarian you have to settle with either Puri or Poha.

I can continue writing as much as possible but ending up here only, just for everyone information “This hotel is no more part of WelcomHeritage because of their pathetic service and poor management. They are in service industry but none of them has courtesy to call back you and the GM of this hotel (Though I did not Had Interaction) looks like a very sad person and lack the dressing sense and the smile/aura which generally person at that level should carry with themselves.

we reached hotel for check in at 1430 hrs .room was given after 20-25 minutes.even i called 30 minutes before checkin dey said rooms are ready. dey dont provide accomation to driver, have to manage at own exps and headache.heritage rooms are quite small and washrooms require immediate renovation. if we say whole property requires immediate renovation .we are not wrong.

housekeeping and food quality is good.
