So far my card key stopped working, the lock on the room door is faulty. Small light over bed not working. I had a cold shower, the room is very stuffy and hot but with windows open the street noise is terrible, and I think I have about as much chance of watching Netflix as I do of marrying Brad P and thatâs after three hours!
Also as a solo smoking female I do not feel safe having to stand across the unlit road late at night to have a cigarette!
Maybe tomorrow will be better!?

Clean, cheap, loads of people to meet and get information from. Great cooking facilities, just like any other YHA, plus I can use my UK YHA membership to get discount.
This was the start of my 5 week road trip around New Zealand which I subsequently wrote a book/ travelog about laying down the bare bones itinerary for anyone else to make their adventure. I covered all the important stuff like what the roads are like, the digs, cost of food, beer quality and price and cool places to stay that won't bust your bank balance.
"Road Trip New Zealand" will be on Amazon soon. At only a hundred and 50-ish pages you won't have time to get bored reading it!

I stayed there 2 nights in a ladies share dorm, and I was really happy with this accommodation! Itâs really clean the beds are quite comfortable, the WiFi is really good even in the rooms and the kitchen area is big you have all the options to make yourself a meal! Staff was friendly and overall I think a great price/performance ratio ! Would definitely come back ! Kim

Spent 2 nights in a private room with private bath. There is an elevator, large clean kitchen, sitting areas, laundry, and lockers. Though the outside isn't impressive, it was surprisingly nice.
Location is down a narrow road just off of Queen St. There is an Asian grocery at the corner that we used to stock up so we didn't have to eat out.
Skybus stop is a block up the hill.

We stayed here for 2 nights after NYE and it was q perfect start to our trip around NZ. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the room had everything we needed including an en-suite! The hostel had everything you could ask for including laundry, locker and spacious kitchen facilities. It wasn't far to walk down to the harbour and even in the rain we enjoyed our time in Auckland. Thanks for a fab stay!
